Festool Connector System

I am trying to figure out some info on the connector system.  I know there is a set for the df500 and for the xl.  I don't have my XL in front of me but doesn't it take a 8mm bit?  Couldn't I use my XL to put in the smaller connectors?

You can use the domino XL 700 for the 8mm kit without problems, it's just a bit more difficult to setup for smaller stock - as the fence setting can't go below a 10mm center line you likely need a shim to position the connector in the middle of the workpiece.
