Anyone purchased and used one of these ? I just ordered one for an upcoming project that will have a bunch of varying angles? I thought I remember hearing that a template for the cutout was included.  Not sure if this is true or not.  I dont use or want a Festool MFT/3 so I want to mount this in a shop bench.  Im sure I can figure it out when it arrives but Im just hoping there is a paper template or dimensions given for the cutout to simplify.

[member=62704]Milvus[/member], Thanks.  Do you find you prefer to use it most of the time bench mounted or handheld, for average size straight runs.  Obviously long or curved panels will be better handheld.

I prefer using it handheld for average size runs. I use it on the table just for narrow parts, as clamps are on the way of the conturo fence.

Regards.

So, I recieved the mft mount and while it does not have a full size template it does have a page with the layout for everything with measurements.  Takes a minute to lay it all out but shes in and working good.  Figured I would answer my own question incase anyone ever searches in the future.

Thanks, I just received mine but won’t be able to get to it for a week or two. Do you have any pics of the final setup?

Thanks,
Bill

I will try to post one tomorrow.  Nothing fancy I have a shop built MFt that is approx. 28"x97"  I cut out a section in the middle and made an insert to pop in and out.  I didnt make it very wide just wide enough for 2 of those plastic skis they supply.  Just FYI the plastic skis have 3 holes and they are on 96mm spacing which is nice.  I want to make some plastic dogs that I can screw to the skis permanently and then just pop them in and out as needed when I use the conturo.  28" is a tad tight on the depth, it doesnt leave much room in front but I figure thats OK since I typically will use it bench mounted for smaller pieces and handheld for bigger stuff.  However 28" is probably about as narrow as I would go. I ran the face edge of some lower cabinet gables so approx. 30x24 panel and had no issue.  Thats about the biggest I would do before pulling it out of the bench mount and going handheld, Do you have a cnc?  I have a dwg. I can send for the cutout if you do.

One other thing.  You might want to pick up some 6mm flat head screws.  There is a flat metal plate that gets screwed down in front of the conturo and none of the screws in the package would work. (I think you need 3 screws if I remember correctly) The supplied screws heads were all to small and would pass right through the holes in the plate.  Not sure if I got a one with missing screws or they are all like that and I didn't read the directions.  Either way I happened to have some 6mm flat heads and they worked perfectly. Other than that and the price it seems nice.  The conturo is great machine I know someone who has one of the Makiswa edgebanders that swears by it.  It does work really good too.  However, even though the conturo is more, the glue costs considerably more etc.  The flexibility to do radius and angled projects makes it worth it.  I just finished a closet organizer with lots of radiuses and have a Tv console coming up that is radiused and will require lots of varying angles.  I couldnt do either job without the conturo.  I think its one of the better tools Festool sells.

It is true. It is a wonderfull machine. Easy to use, and the bench mount is a plus.

I did this for my son and I'm sure I wouldn't have acomplished it if I hadn't the Conturo. In fact, I used it bench mounted for the whole project.

Regards.

here is pick as requested.  The photo doesn't really show it but there is some extra gapage around the back I could do without. there needs to be some, to access the knobs for the angle adjustment but its a tad excessive to me.  I noticed the cut out dimensions supplied with the mount does not match the cut out in the Festool bench top if you buy it.  The paper dimensions have a more rectangle hole and the MDf top has a curve in the back. Either way the dimensions on the paper worked perfectly just with some extra breathing room.  I need to redo the bench anyway so I will address it at that point.  This bench has been through 3 or 4 redesigns and I keep cutting and reusing pieces and parts so shes a little chopped up and I didnt seal the top on this one (mistake) so shes showing her miles. I did seal the conturo part this time.  I just cut out a section in the middle so I can store the conturo top and pop back in the 20mm hole section when not in use.  I dont use the MFT for cutting anymore, pretty much just clamping these days so I dont care if the holes are perfectly aligned.  I have started kicking around the idea of hinging the top and trying to make a flip top style vacuum press for laminating medium/smaller parts since I dont have anymore space for a vacuum press.

Thanks for the photo and info. I’m trying to figure out where I’m going to install it.

I know this post is a few years old, but thought I would take a shot. If you still have the DWG file for base plate cutout I would love to have it.
