Hi Everyone

I have now completed the 3rd and final video in my Festool Cordless drill driver series. In the final one I try to provide information in order to help people decide which they should get. I strongly recommend that you should go to a show or to your local dealer and try each one before making up your mind.

Please note that the PDC18 does not have an eccentric chuck option.

Thanks for sharing this Peter. I agree with you, about visiting a dealer.

I bought the CXS a few months ago. I went to the local store and play with the CXS a bit (pun intended)  [tongue] I found the drill extremely versatile & light weight compare to my M18 drills.

Great video Peter. Answered some questions i had and reminded me of a few things ...well I just plain forgot about  [embarassed]

Many thanks chaps. I was worried that this video was a little plain but have been encouraged by your comments and the many comments now appearing on YouTube.

I decided to do this, following the "What Festool Sander" and "Which Domino" style videos as I received a huge number of questions seeking such advice. It is difficult to provide a balanced view as it is too easy to sneak in personal preferences. The key thing is to get the facts and then go somewhere to try before you buy.

I have used some great drills from Bosch, Dewalt and Hitachi but just love my two Festool machines - the old CXS and the PDC18.

Thanks Peter...nice job.  Wasn't "dry" in the least....you presented just enough info for anyone to go in the right direction.

Peter good overview of the drill drivers.

I do have one question. At about 4:50 you state that the PDC will have an eccentric chuck. Is that a new offering? It's my understanding that the eccentric chuck from a T or C series will not fit the PDC. The 2018 catalog in the US doesn't list an eccentric chuck for the PDC.

thanks

There is an eccentric chuck, just not the same one...found that out the hard way.  I got a great deal on a PDC so I bought a chuck of Ebay.  Guess what?  Only fits the C & Ts.  Had to do some research to find the correct one.  Then I had to buy the C18 to fit the wrong chuck!  [blink]

. Yeah, I was curious so I went to Festool UK to see if there was a NAINA eccentric chuck for the PDC that I wasn’t aware of. Does not appear to exist.  [blink]

My bad, no eccentric...should have checked systainer become inserting foot in mouth  [sad]

And yet; why not.  Drill sends too much RPM or power for the ECCENTRIC Chuck to handle? I wonder why the PDC didn’t get one.  The DRC doesn’t have one either, right?  I would pay for a unique version Eccentric version if the PDC/DRC required it due design limits with the C/T series version.... [scratch chin] [scratch chin]
Protool never offered it to begin with either, so I guess there’s no demand for the PDC to have that Eccentric Chuck..... [oops] [oops]

Hi!

I can only guess, and imagine the following:

I actually don't think it's a torque or rpm "problem". I imagine that, and it's actually the same with the CXS, the angle attachment of the PDC/DRC puts you as close to an obstacle as somehow possible. Meaning: An eccentric chuck simply won't offer any benefit over using the existing angle attachment. At least for any use I can imagine right now.

If you look at the Bosch 12V FC, you'll notice that their angle attachment is "enormous" compared to the one of the CXS, that's why they need the additional eccentric chuck.

Like I said, it's only what I imagine and comes from my experience. Pretty sure that if you could gain something from an eccentric chuck with either the CXS or PDC/DRC, Festool would make one.

Kind regards,
Oliver

. That sounds reasonable... [smile]
