Hi Everyone

Festool UK kindly lent me the 3 new cordless sanders (RTSC 400, DTSC 400 and the ETSC 125). My video was delayed as these tools have been selling so well.

I plan to use these in a second video which I am planning as a "Which Festool Sander" type video together with my own sanders and a couple borrowed from a friend. That will hopefully follow in the not too distant future.

Once all the video work is complete the sanders will be packed ready for collection by Festool UK.

Here is the first of those videos:

Fantastic video as always Peter!

Looking forward to see more of your cabinet restoration project - and the sanders of course. :)

Kind regards,
Oliver

Great video Peter!

I purchased all three Hybrid sanders at the end of December, and love them.  When inside my shop, I still prefer to use the dust extractor and cord, but when outside sanding, or upstairs sanding something I don't want to drag downstairs to the shop,  there is no better option than cordless.

Initially, some complained about needing a new battery platform, but as you pointed out in your video, both battery styles use the same charger, so I still only have one charging station in my shop.  My hope is that in the future, Festool will develop another tool that can use the same battery as the sander (think Vecturo).

One other point; when I purchased mine, I bought the RTSC in the complete "set" version, then both the DTSC and ETSC in the less expensive "basic" version (sander only, no batteries or plug-it option), saving a considerable amount of money.  Of course, I am a one man show, so I won't be competing with myself to use these different sanders at the same time.  Someone running a crew may find the need for additional "sets".

Looking forward to the next video!

Hi Oliver and Cliff

Thank you for that. A good point about only needing one set version.

Cheers.

Hi guys just wondering about the run time on these batteries? How long will one go for without a break? Thinking of getting them also wondering can you run them off 110v  instead of the 240v? Wishfull thinking.......Or has anyone heard anything in the pipe line?

There is a 110v mains adaptor available on this side of the pond. I don't know about the availability in other markets though.

[member=11196]Peter Parfitt[/member] Thank you for another excellent video.

Food for thought: Since the three sanders share the same batteries etc.. and look very similar, wouldn't it be easier for Festool to have one sander with three pad interface. From your video I understand that there is no sander with multi mode.

. Hmm interesting, but DTS and RTS don’t rotate like a Random Orbit Sander, they’re just Orbital Sanders.  So are you thinking a scaled down RO 90 that has no Rotex Mode and is Cordless.?  Seems very doable.... [scratch chin]

[member=11196]Peter Parfitt[/member] .. Thanks for the timely video.  I've been thinking about purchasing the ETSC 125 set, but it's been kind of hard for me to remove that much cash from my wallet for a sander.  I think I'll go ahead and make the leap now ... you never know when Mrs. Miggins is going to call [wink]
