I noticed this package popped up yesterday, but was replaced with something different later in the day.  I assumed it sold out, but it appeared again on the site a little after 9am EST this morning.

It seems like a pretty good deal to me, especially for someone who wants to get into Festool by truly jumping in head first.  It contains almost every Festool that I own.  I kinda wish a package like this had been available when I first got into Festool.

This past weekend it seems Recon would have something up for maybe 1/2 a day, then it would change again. THis same set was posted, then a multi-tool, then a drywall sander, a router table  then a 26 dust extractor with a saw? and then this again.

I am surprised that they put up a collection this large instead of breaking it down.  Anyone that would spend this much at once on Festool probably already has most of these items already.

Was this a kit ever offered by festool?  I can see them trying this to get someone so slightly in on many fronts, they go more in. At the same time I don't see it as something that would have many takers.  Might look ok, but then you realize you have no use for Festool brands drills/batteries.  That sort of thing.  Like the usual "set" issue when buying stuff.  It may be a deal compared to buying items individually, but if it has stuff you don't want/need, the value dies.

Could this be a trial balloon to see how non-Festool/brand new woodworkers are receptive to a total Festool Package set-up?  [scratch chin]

No, not that I'm aware of.

Could be anything, but I doubt it.  They could just  as easily shoot themselves in the foot as 25% for such a large purchase isn't that great of a discount when you also consider you're giving up 2 years of warranty on 5 potentially used and still expensive tools.

This is pure speculation on my part but since the Recon site has come back online in the past week or two they have been selling bigger more expensive items and items in different combinations like this and others. Right now they have a Kapex coupled with a CT vacuum. They sure seem to be selling big dollar bulky items first. Could they just be approaching this from a practical need to make some space and generate as many sales as possible first before selling smaller items?

There are typically "many" buyers for certain more favorite tools, and the less popular tools languish on there - sometimes for days. Perhaps they are making bundles that mix both types.

Another thought is they may be simply bundling combos of tools that work together. Festool thinks of these tools as primarily being bought by contractors (may be more true in Europe), while in the US there is a large following of hobbyists (like me). If you are trying to attract more contractors - then create combos that one might buy together, and at the discounted price you may reach a buyer who otherwise couldn't afford your tools. Once they have them they may appreciate them and get hooked.....
