Walked into a croc outlet store today. The store has the brand new Festool smell. You know the smell; the sweet smell that hits you the first and second time you open the systainer. Anyway, saw these while my wife was looking for crocs. They would look great in the shop and super comfortable. Wood debris would probably get in the holes though.

Do you wear them with socks? Does dust get in and make a stew with your foot sweat? [unsure]

I wear my crocs in the shop all the time and yes all the sawdust gets in the socks,my wife is always complaining about the state of my socks when I put them in the washing machine along with the trousers with screws still in the pockets. [laughing]

For me, no socks...in the summer at least!

I just give em a rinse if they get dust inside!

I don't wear anything but steel toed shoes in the shop. A year ago I'd wear anything, but then I dropped a full sheet of 1" birch ply and crushed a toe. I had it in a T-handle on the way up to the cutting table. After lifting to about knee-height, the handle broke. Apart from steel toes I also use a Gorilla-grip for plywood lifts.

Fortunately, the board only hit the top of my toes. After a couple of weeks I could walk, and now I have no issues at all.

OUCH!!! I personally work in my Keen steel toes but sometimes I get lazy and go into my shop in flip-flops...BUUUUTT not after seeing that!!! [scared]

I don't know whether I'm too old, too stoopid or just plain too stubborn...

Yeah I agree, probably all three... Then some...

Anyway, with all the lightweight safety toe protectors they've developed... I reckon they could make a (safety) capped croc....

I know I'd buy a pair... He'll I'd buy 5 pair- straight up!

I usually split a toe open to the bone once or twice a year... And no I'll never learn...
I hate shoes... I have Plantar Faciitis sp? In both feet cause I've got no arch... So I have to wear some form of ortho shoe.... Well I've discovered ortho thongs (flip flops) and they are great... Cept for the split toe fiasco every now and then......

I have a pair of steel toe clogs.  Not wooden ones, similar foam material to what Crocs are of.  My main criteria were, steel toe, and simple to slip on and off so laziness wouldn't keep me from putting then on.

I dropped a sheet of MDF, it didn't hit my foot, but put things in perspective for me.

These steel toe clogs are quite popular in professional kitchens apparently.

They are made in Germany, now if only they came in Festool colours :-)

Now that would meet my criteria

My wife says that Crocs are the only 100% effective birth control.  [big grin]

Crox
No relation to Crocs

Yeah-

"No Crocs" is one of about half a dozen "Instant Divorce Rules" in my house...Maybe if I just hid them in the workshop I could stay married.  They look sooooo comfortable.

Crocs? Seriously? What's happening to men in today's world?

[poke] Hey play nice...what happens in the shop stays there...especially the mistakes, crocs probably being one of them. But as a disclaimer I would never wear these outdoors.

What's worse than wearing crocs outdoors....

Wearing socks with crocs outdoors....

Bwahahahahah!  And yes, that would be me in those socks....

Yeah, yeah when your're young looks are more important than comfort...

Why else would we have g-strings an 6" heels.... I'm all for it...

But let me tell you with the passing of the years the most important criteria is comfort and let's face it none of us want to see granny in thong'n'heels, right?

You can laugh all you like, my feet and I don't care; socks an crocs for me.... Lol!
