Hello,

I bought a used Festool CS70.

When I start cutting massiv wood the blade moves from side to side, when I looked under the table saw
the hole motor units moves. [scared]
I looked further at the problem and see that the frontpanel bents/defelcts (see green arrows),
the 3 roller bearings (magenta cirkels ) do not move.
The hole motorunit is hang up at the frondpanel, there is no other mounting point to support the motorunit
to stop deflecting the frontpanel,  do I miss another mounting point ?

Anyone who knows how to solve this problem  [crying]

im not familiar with that tool
most on here wont have seen it . its NAINA.
i think alex  (fog member ) has one of those andmight help.
i would look on the ekat site and see are you missing any parts etc.

Hi Serge, I think I do. I also have this saw and I don't have the problems you mentioned. I checked mine to see how it looks down there, and I see your saw has a couple of missing parts of the 3 bearing assemblies. Chances are that the person who sold you this saw already knew this because somebody must have removed the parts to check out the bearings. The bad part is that getting 3 new bearing assemblies will cost you €114 ex BTW (VAT).

See in the pic below how it is supposed to look. The bearings should have black plastic covers over them.

The motor unit moving is not a problem. The saw is supposed to do that, because it is a pull saw (trekzaag). You can also lock the motor in place so it won't move. The pull bar has 3 detents (groeven) in it that you can lock using the green lever (knop) in the pic below. When using it as a normal (non-pull) table saw, you're supposed to lock it in the middle position as shown below.

The front panel bending is not a problem, because you do not put force on that part when you use the saw. You pull the saw by the front handle and that part is firmly secured to the motor sled. The picture above shows you the handle and the pull bar.

Now that IS a problem. That needs to be fixed. Use WD40 (kruipolie) on it and see if that helps. Perhaps it works, but I guess it probably won't. It's probably worn out. There are 9 bearings in total, in 3x3 pairs (see blue circles in picture). Two bearings on top and one on the bottom of the supporting rail. All 9 need to be in good working order. The two top bearings move inside a conical (conisch) part that actually touches the rail (see black outline in picture). The picture below shows the motor sled of the CS70, and comes from the Ekat parts catalogue

You do not miss a mounting point. The problem is that your 3 mounting points, the bearing assemblies, are bad and the bearings are probably worn out or at least frozen by rust or dirt. Contact Festool service department to hear what your possibilities are.

One last remark: always make sure the knob below is secured tightly. If you don't, that could also cause wobble of the blade.

For further questions you can ask me here or PM me so we can talk in Dutch.

Hi Alex,

thanks for making the pictures.

I removed the roller/bearing caps to adjust the bearings.

It is not the problem of moving the motorunit with frontpanel to the front and back, but it moves sideways, bending the frontpanel.
The motorunit is firmly connected to the frontpanel.
I also can't see any extra mounting points on your pics so maybe my prontpanel has some cracks that it bents so easy.

If your motor unit moves sideways it is probably because the conical rollers on top are worn out. Maybe it is just the conical rollers, maybe also the bearings. I sincerely doubt there are cracks somewhere, the entire unit is made very solid and there is not much force applied, at least not such a big force that the metal would fail.

Alex,

did you get my PM ?

I removed the motorunit from the frontpanel

There is nothing to see that could be missing, so I wil start to order a new frontpanel because this is the part that bents.
Maybe after years these parts become flexibele.
The hole unit is hanging at this front panel and every force that requires to cut solid wood defelcts this panel.

After having the CS70 stored for a year, I now replaced the front panel and it is perfect again.
The old front panel got to flexible so the wieght of the motorunit bent it, resulting in a not straight sawblade.

Just brought a brand new cs70 table saw
Went to change the blade a week later
When I hold the green button down to lock the blade to I can in bolt it the blade doesn’t lock and keeps spinning
Anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks

It's an old-fashioned spindle-lock (you have to keep it pressed in, and turn untill the pin reaches the hole, and keep it pressed in while removing the arbornut).
