Festool ct 15. Two thumbs way up

Bought the entry level Festool vac. Almost bought the fein turbo II as it speced better. Then I read this :https://www.toolboxbuzz.com/head-to-head/best-dust-extractors-head-to-head/.  I don’t need all the fancy bells and whistles. The ct 15 has the same power as the more expensive units. I does have a crappier hose though. It vacuumed up husky hair. Husky hair is very hard to vacuum from cars. [attachimg=1][attachimg=2][attachimg=3]. My WAP aero 840a draws 8 Amps and the festool 9.5. I have a tool that inserts between plug and outlet and measures watts/ amps. I think it does well with the husky hair cause the hose is slightly smaller/ faster airflow. Plus it’s a dust extractor specializing in picking up light debris.  I do want to save $130 so I can buy the anti static smooth hose. The blue tooth ,remote and hose storage don’t interest me as much . But I do like the better hose.

Wish it had the hand brake. But a piece of oak worked . It easily cleaned up the mess on my deck caused by a 1 inch router bit[attachimg=1][attachimg=2]

For me it's ~€320 for the CT-15, €400 for the CTL Midi I and €140 for the hose. So that made the decision pretty easy for me; skip the CT 15.

But CT costs in the USA have always been 'off'; your price difference between CTL 26 and 36 has been way way smaller for some reason. Over here the price difference is (/used to be) so big, pretty much nobody ever buys larger than a 26. I think I did a calculation before on this forum that resulted in achieving break-even after something like 120 bags in the CTL-26.

The smooth AS hose is $130 USD.

The hose garage is an additional $59 USD.

and at Paul b Zimmerman hardware I paid $349.  They didn’t increase price to the current $399. The midi was $640. So I saved $290

In the FWIW department, a customer actually turned me on to the fact that the CT15 can be upgraded with the CD Mini/Midi hose garage. Festool 204717 Hose Garage for Bluetooth CT MINI I / MIDI I / CT 15 Dust Extractors. I found it from a number of online dealers but it's a challenge to find it in EKATS. The going price I've seen is $59.00 so if you have a CT15 and want to stack T-Loc systainers on it, this is an option. I will verify on Monday when I take my Torx t-handles and fiddle with the store Midi and CT15. FWIW, the other differences are the anti-static hose, the bluetooth and manual cleaning filter. BTW, not specified directly but I personally like sitting on my Midi when my old bum gets tired....it rolls too..... ;D

I thought about that after I posted earlier, but didn't want to take the time to point it out since I figured it would come up eventually.

The differences between the 15 and MINI-I are actually pretty vast, but if you just need a good HEPA extractor, it's not a bad starting point at its old price.

Don't underestimate the usefulness of the blue tooth remote...I'll never purchase another vacuum without that feature. Once you have it you will be spoiled forever. Kind of like saying "Well I'd be ok taking a cold shower every day".  [tongue]

For those who don't like the dust that collects in the end of the bayonet hose on the tool (I'm among them), the bluetooth remote is a handy way to self-clean that bugger out when you disconnect the hose from the tool.  I liked it so much on the MIDI-I that the BT module was one of my first accessory purchases for the CT-26 after it arrived.  I'm only keeping my OG MINI for tool-activated use, sentimental value (my first ever Festool purchase), and because the switch and dial is more future-proof/fault-resistant.

I bought a green anti static hose 27mm 3.5m.  Then I bought the y adapter Festool 452898 Hose Sleeve, Antistatic Y-Adapter With Blanking Plughttps://www.amazon.com/dp/B003KN3TPW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_427YNSKJEMPBPC1GAJH4. Festool told me I can open up my ct 15 and run y adapter with vacuum open if short hose from uk doesn’t fit. . I want to use the y and extra hose on my bench dog router table. Cabinet doesn’t have a dust port I want to make one. Funny, the 488292 now shows up with green hoses on the Festool.nl website. That's an upgrade!

Anyway; it was originally designed for the Precisio CS 70. You can image if you put the dust extractor next to it... the 36mm hose goes underneath while the D27 hose has go to around a table extension and still allow for pulling the saw.

It seems it now also allows for rotation on the D27 hose end. It wasn't like that in the past. So there are now pics floating around of a set with black hoses, one with gray hoses and one with the green/black AS hoses.

Got my hose garage . Should of come standard.  It that much more plastic. Had to use a t handie t25 to have enough reach for the deep screw recesses on garage. Not impressed with the thin hose garage plastic. 1010 router locks onto ct 15 with garage. Which is good cause I want the $100 hose kit /sustainer  for it. So by buying the ct 15 at 349 vs the midi at 640 I saved $291 . I used that savings to buy a extra hose , a hose garage , a short hose, and a y adapter. Now the cabinet of my bench dog router table will have dust extraction. I’d rather have that then blue tooth. But there are moments now that I know Bluetooth exists it would have been nice[attachimg=1][attachimg=2][attachimg=3][attachimg=4][attachimg=5]
