Festool CT26 for home cleaning

I'd love to replace my CT22 with the new CT26
Has any one convinced his wife to buy a CT26 for home cleaning ?
And seriously does any know if Festool vacuum cleaners are better for carpet and floor than the for home use ones.

I have convinced my mum! I'll load some pictures and videos as I got her to buy a 17meter hose so she can vacuum the house without draggin the ct26 around as much. My muM says she prefers the festool ct26 with th turbo head more than her dyson on carpet!

The 26 is suitable for the job but a normal home vac is a lot better in my opinion. Especially if a woman has to work with it. It is no fun dragging the 26 up the stairs while home vacs are small and light. Also, modern home vacs have a stronger suction than the Festool vacs because they have 1800 to 2000 watt motors.

I'd think it would work well, but for the amount fo stuff that gets picked up around the house, the bags would get expensive quickly.

Bob, I'd like to see what you track in on your boots then.  I've used my Festool vacs around the house for years now.  It doesn't seem to put much of a dent in the filter bag.

While the video is being uploaded onto youtube!   Ill give you my mums opinion.

She hates Dysons as they are awkward for stairs and to get under chairs and tight spaces she wish she never bought the dyson. She has a Cat 'n' Dog vacuum which she prefers.

She loves her new CT26 as it has ALOT more power than any Vacuum she had.  She says the Air powered Turbo head does as good or better job than the Dyson which has a Motorised brush. She has a 17Meter hose coming which I measured up for her as long as the CT26 is right at the bottom of the stairs she should be able to vacuum the entire upstairs of the house so no need to carry the CT26.

Festool told me that the CT26 wont loose suction up to 15meters I ordered 17meters as 15meters is just a bit to short really but if the suction drop is a lot I could always cut 2 meters of the hose.

She has used it quite a bit and the bag still feels empty to me. I also got her http://www.floor321.co.uk/Products/Spares/Numatic/NVA55B.aspx Grooming brush for the dog!  The dog loves it and my mum does lol! The hairs do get stuck on the pins but you simply pull them away and they get sucked up.

As you can see my Dog is long haired and he aint filled the bag yet lol.  Also a normal vac has smaller bags so why would the CT26 fill up quicker?!  The dyson is bag less but it fills up dead quickly plus when you empty the thing dust comes out into the air you have to dead carefull.

I take it you occasonally vac the stairs just so you can play with the CT22  [tongue] Dont want to let your wife play with it.

Interesting. Is that the 36mm hose? Just cleaning the floor, my household vacuum seemed to have a more powerful suction than my CT26. I wondered if the 27mm hose would increase the velocity of the airflow and maybe make it pick up more.

All your video proofs is that your mom's Dyson is not as powerfull as the 26. That doesn't say anything about the average home vac out there. I've recently used the Phillips City Line Barcelona vac, the Numatic Henry, a Bosch home vac and another Phillips and they were all a lot stronger than my CT22 and CT26.

Especially the 1800 watt Phillips City Line Barcelona was a scary beast, making a sound like it would eat you alive, and very strong. I had to turn the suction down to make it workable, or else I would have to fight to get it off the carpet. I don't have to do this with any of my 3 Festool vacs.

When I used the Henry I really felt embarrassed about my 22 because the Henry is also rated at 1200 watts and it got sooo much more suction out of that 1200 watts than the 22 did.
   
Btw, I have an odd feeling not everybody is going to get a 17m hose either . [wink]

Can't comment on carpet since I've got all wood floors. But, with the purchase of the 456736
Compact Cleaning kit and a dusting ball, the CT22 I've got has taken over completely all the vacuuming jobs in my apartment. I pay a friend's wife to come over and clean for me and she's given me permission to dispose of the other two house cleaning type vacuums I've got. Thought I'd get a scolding when I said I wanted to get rid of them, but she's perfectly happy to roll the CT22 around. I don't have any stairs in my place so there's no need to carry the CT22 anywhere and she likes the CT22's extra long power cord. She can do the entire apartment with it plugged into the same wall outlet.

The dyson is an average vac and is expensive. Most peoples houses I go to have Dysons so to me thats an average Vac no?  I will try my mums Meile Cat and Dog and see what power.   I dont know what Henry your talking about but I aint used a single henry which has more power I have used LOADS I have always found them rubbish at suction I think they are just a cheap bag less vacuum which mainly places like school or trades men who dont like to spend alot of money buy.

Can't comment on carpet since I've got all wood floors. But, with the purchase of the 456736

Bob, I'd like to see what you track in on your boots then.  I've used my Festool vacs around the house for years now.  It doesn't seem to put much of a dent in the filter bag. 

I regulary vacuum up 26 litres of crap in the hallway allone [big grin] [big grin]

Now if you were to vacuum up all the other stuff left on the floor........ lego action figures ect

My only complaint about it is the plug configuration. I'm not sure where it originates from and I'm sure it's been discussed thoroughly before with some practical reasoning behind it, but I've been tempted to cut it off and connect a regular three pronged Canadian/USA 120v plug. Agreed, attaching the adapter plug to it is a minor inconvenience, but it's still an irritating one.

My only complaint about it is the plug configuration. Just use some electrical tape to attach the adapter that comes with the vac to the cord.  One nice thing about the new CT26/36 is they have the regular grounded plug.

Our household vac' died shortly after I got my demo CT 26. I brought it in, put the 36mm non-antistatic hose on it from the Universal Cleaning Kit, and put the Kit plus Turbo Suction Brush on top. I showed Veronica how well it worked and she just loves it. The cord and hose are nice and long, which is a big plus. We had an upright vac', which was always hard to get under things. Now it's easy.

I have to move it to change elevation but that's no big deal to me.

Now I have to schedule my demo's with her in mind also...

Well!

I got my 17meter hose to day!   [crying] [mad] [sad] [unsure] Them emotions are how I am feeling now!   I also got my 5 metre 27mm non anti static hose.  I already own a 36mm non antistatic hose 5metres.

The video above I was using my 36mm 5 metre hose.  As you can see in the video it powers the turbo head brush nicely really fast and powerfull!

Well I tried my 27mm hose 2 day and  [sad] their is quite alot of suction loss from the 36 to 27 the turbo head spins up fast but no where near as fast and I can stop it with my hand easily.  So any body who kept on saying on fog their is no suction loss between the 27 or 36mm n then saying the only benefits is that the larger hose can handle large shavings are just talking rubbish.

Any way I was gettin really worried as the 17metre hose is also 27mm and I thought plus the length it might have even more suction loss!  Oh yes!  It has about 50% suction loss!  It hardly powers the turbo brush! If the brush was clean I would try and stop it with my tongue!   The annoying thing is FESTOOL said their is no suction lose between the 27 and 36 so I went for the 27 as its cheaper and easier to store! Then I asked whats the longest hose I could get and they said 15 metres with NO suction loss! Well I got 17 metres they said we have had orders of 20metres with no complaints so 17 should be fine. Well you cant tell me if I was to cut my hose to 15metres now it would increase the suction by 50%.  

I am not happy and I think festool should redo some testing!

I am returning the hose immediately for a refund false information.

I just thought I would let people know!
