Don't know if anyone else saw it, but on the Today Show a couple of minutes ago, Kevin O'Connor did a 1 minute showing of cool tools for Father's Day.  The last one shown was the Festool CXS!  Also had a nice stack of T-Locs in the background.

So the big question is, were these manufacturers paying to have their products shown?

So cynical for one so young  [poke] [big grin]

[smile]  Thanks for the compliment, but I thought my chronological number was bordering on middle age, especially now that I've been dreading birthdays and forgetting things.

I'd say those 5 seconds of exposure on national TV are likely to cause a huge surge in Festool sales among the DIY crowd- much of it kinda by accident, as women rush out this week to find that CXS for their hubbies.  Once they get that first glass of Koolaid, they're hooked.....

I'd like to see it happen, but I strongly doubt it. I think most of them will head to Home Depot and plonk down $40 for some crappy drill (that lasts for a week) rather than try to locate a local Festool dealer and then stump up $300 for a CXS.

Richard,

I think it'll also have a lot to do with what the women received on Mother's Day - reciprocal value.  You know what they say about paybacks.  [wink]

Loved seeing it on there - I think the biggest sticking point may be that most people will probably go looking for this at Big Orange or Big Blue.  (I don't think Festool should be sold there, but it's where most people buy tools.)

Big Blue sent someone my way the other day. They wanted the HL 850...

Bob's right, you'd be blown away by the response something so short as that little bit can produce.  We're certainly feeling it.

Whomever posted "You were watching the today show?" had me laughing my ass off.  That was great.

So your already seeing increased CXS orders  because of the Today Show spot?

The power of Marketing and impact of the media, got to love it.

Now to watch the boxes at the curb next trash day..... and then know who to ask "do you have drill I could barrow for the next 6 years".... [drooling]

Cheers,
Steve

Well I just purchased the CXS now and the batteries are going through their initial charge. Just so you know the Today show had nothing to do with my purchase. As I've been posting in other threads regarding this tool, i was initially skeptical about it, with the lack of brushless motor and electronic chuck and my disappointment with competitors in its class. This skepticism, quickly changed when i did some playing with the tool at my local dealer. Immediately impressed with the build quality. The drill feels solid and well built. Today is my Saturday (working a Sunday to Thursday shift) so it wont get the full beating a work day can bring but I plan on using this guy ALOT. My hope is that it can keep up, I have faith right now that it will but we'll see how three weeks does before a give a review.
