Festool domino 500 bit cases

I have noticed that the bit containers for the Domino bits have slots on the side that allow the containers to be connected.  I am wondering if this design is also for placing the containers in another storage situation ie the Systainers parts boxes or some other situation?

I have only ever seen them attached like that in one of the retailers I frequent. They use it as somewhat of a display.

I do it with mine to indicate which ones are used. I save the used ones for situations where I'm concerned about hitting something inside the piece I am cutting into.
