Festool Domino DF 700 Connectors for board, frame and corner connections

I am certainly waiting to hear more about the fittings.  I won't be surprised to learn that the load capacities on these are impressive.  These are designed for larger timbers after all.

it would be two fittings per corner 8 euro's still pricey

I've built many beds. Only long rail can typically be disconnected for transportation or storage. Short one is tenoned and glued permanently. So, one connector per corner. Comparable traditional bed hardware would be something like pictured below and cost at least as much as Festool connector. Regardless, those connectors are peanuts comparing to other expenses to build a bed.

Thanks for posting this.  I am glad to see Festool finally exploring the knockdown fastener for the Domino.  I am also curious what the pullout strength of these fasteners are.  I can see some limited uses for it including beds but, the Stafast Bedkit at under $6 per set of four is hard to beat both in price and strength.  When offered, I will likely get some to keep on hand for those cases where it may be needed.

I don't believe the Lamello P system is in any danger whatsoever of being displaced by the Festool offering.  The video looked like a time consuming effort to install the connectors relative to the speed of the Zeta P.  The Domino looks like it would provide greater strength.

The zeta and the 700 are worlds apart regards application, the 700 is pre zeta at the moment, but when a whole raft of connectors are made available it will be hugely versatile.

Ok festool go away and come back with a fitting that articulates then you have a joiner that can be used in  vastly wider applications stair parts as an example.

It's worth noting that you can just use one fastener per bed corner, and one regular tenon next to it for alignment, or even one either side of the fastener if the rail is wide enough. You don't need a pair of fasteners per corner.

I will definitely be interested in this once they come out with it for plywood and the 500! And please don't be NAINA [scared]

I can see this being very useful for trade show stands and such. Anything solid that is temporary… And maybe stuff like temporary housing. I like the direction Festool is taking with this. Hope they extend it to Domino 500 territory.

Is it capable of achieving a good join for kitchen worktops. Maybe a replacement for bolts?

The stills video on YouTube shows it being used to join a worktop (about 6 mins in)

That video did explain how these connector work, bit it was one of the most tedious videos I have ever managed to watch completely. Why were three so many pictures of the cover pieces. Was the producer paid by the second or by the photo?

I am sure it is a marketing video/slide show. Meant to play on a loop on a tv at a booth sort of thing.

Cheers. Bryan.

I was sent the email link to this and was quite exited by the prospect. Having seen the video I do think they are great for certain things. For me I could see using them when doing large built in cupboards and libraries that must be made up in smaller components and fitted on site later. I could have done with some a few weeks back.
As for the cost I think they could be well worth it to solve some problems.

I was however underwhelmed by only being offered one option.
I have long thought about using the domino for a SOSS type hinge  ( http://www.soss.com/invisible-hinge-product-overview.html )  that would be very easy and accurate to fit, this seems like a no-brainer to me, what about magnetically activated ones like the Invis ones. I hope more stuff will be coming along these lines soon.

Yup the connectors can and one is designed for this purpose. The connector with the plastic covers on each end are designed for chipboard worktops.

Why is Festool not selling the corner connectors in a 4-pack? I don't really need 32 of them! I sense a business opportunity.
