Went pop, now running at a low speed, not fast enough to penetrate timber. It's like all it's guts have fallen out ? Forgot to register the warranty in time so im on ma own for this one. Suggestions people ?

The DF700 does contain an electronics package (item 118 in EKAT), so it is not just a "dumb-motor" tool. The "pop" you heard may have been a destructive failure of the electronics module (bad power or other possible causes). Because this appears to be a sudden failure, it is less likely to be a failure of the motor itself (and that is good).

I do not know what the warranty requirements are for the UK, but this is certainly something to bring in for service. Even if it is not covered by warranty, the cost to replace the electronics module should not be too drastically expensive.

Maybe it's different in the UK, but in NA it is the retailer that registers your tool with Festool.

If anything, the Domino XL hasn't been out more than 3 years so it would still be part of the 1+2 warranty.  I think US dealers register users; I think that's a FUSA thing.

In Oz some dealers register your tools for you, some are slack. Fortunately mine does.
