my drill chuck has problems gripping drill bits with circular shanks

the drill is now only used for driving awkward position screws on kitchen fits

any suggestions

its never been good

what doesnt help is ive recently got a makita LiIon and that is a flick of the wrist and you can hear a ratchet

so i cant say the festool has got worse it may just be a there is a new comparison

We've had comments about the drill chuck on here before.  It doesn't hold well and it will also loosen during use.  I have to re-tighten many times during use, if not things such as hole saws will eventually fall out.

Chris...

ive got a response from my dealer

a new chuck is 50 quid (approx $100) it isnt a warranty part

it wouldnt help me anyway im out of warranty in this case

"it isnt a warrenty part" read between the lines, no chuck redesign or improvement anytime soon

I have forwarded your post to the service department and to Festool Germany. As soon as I get an answer back, I will post it here.

Christian

chris m, your a lucky man with christian o on the case for you, he gets answers, good luck

my dealer has set a chuck aside for me, ill give him some plastic in exchange

I misplaced my drill and I'm still in shock, I brought it home from work and went to use i the next day I just couldn't find it I have no idea what happened. It's my own darn fault it's as if I set it down and forgot where.I wish it were bugging me one way or another. Dan

Dirty Deeds, Good luck, I posted the same problem some time ago and got zero response from anyone, let alone Christian, I guess I must have imagined it although the cost of the repalcement chuck (which I fully expect will develop the same problem at some point) was real enough.

Got an answer from Germany. According to them, this problem only shows up in the US. They don't know of
complaints from other countries (is it because customers from other countries are complaining here on the US forum???).

They said they would look into it.

Chris Mercado: I will write you a personal message about your chuck.

We will keep everybody updated here on the forum.

Regards,

Christian
