Festool Edge Router Collet Stuck

Hello, I have a Festool Edge Router I purchased some time ago but just found a need to use. It has a metric collet on it and comes with a 1/4". I need to swap the collet which I expected to be pretty easy. The nut comes off but the collet will not budge. This unit has never been operated, so it's brand new, with no rust, etc. The manual just says loosen the nut and pull the assembly out together and keep the assembly together. Is there some special trick or is this bad luck? Any ideas on how to get the collet out?

I don’t have that router, but it probably has a tapered shaft which needs to be dislodged.  Take a wood block and rap it against the side of the collet sharply.  That will usually loosen a tapered shaft.

Sometimes a router bit will get stuck in the collet even after it has been loosened.  Side tap the bit the same way and it almost always comes loose.

If it is brand new and "never operated", it sounds like the collet was not assembled properly?
The collet and nut are an assembly, where the collet stays in the nut when removed from the tool.
Your extra/additional collet should have it's own nut (assembled).
These are designed to be "self-releasing", meaning that when you loosen the nut, it actually pulls the collet out of the taper. This loosens the bit at the same time.
If the nut came off without the collet, they need to be snapped back together.
