Hello everyone.
Thanks so much for taking the time to help me solve this problem.

I have several sanders with the same problem.
I made a video so you can see how it spins uncontrollably.

Can anyone help me troubleshoot it and order the right part number?

Thanks in advance.

That issue is beyond my level of understanding on how to fix - other than sending it in to Festool. But I'm sure someone here will know what's up with that.

On the bright side, it looks like it's "gear driven" - so a cheaper way to have a Rotex.

I could be wrong but from the video it looks like it's not actually orbiting, just spinning?

I gave my ETS away so unfortunately can't look inside, but I know the basic design of most RO sanders have a weighted attachment that screws or clips onto the pad or shaft, which is what gives it the orbital motion.

First thing to do I reckon is take the pad off and have a look inside for any obvious things that need tightening or replacement due to damage.

I appreciate your message...
I will check on that tomorrow.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure that there is a gasket/seal that makes contact with the top of the pad. This puts some load against the rotation, helping it stop. If I'm remembering right, it's somewhat of a wear item, not exactly a "consumable" but along the same lines.
