I had a Festool delivery due today from Fixy.com (UK) and the courier usually arrives around 1pm. As fate would have it I had an appointment this morning with my Mum and her lawyer at ten. I told her "I bet they come early today and I'll have to wait till five thirty to collect it".
Well I was right....... sort of! [big grin] As I arrived back home around eleven guess who was walking up to my door, yep! the nicest delivery guy you could ever want to meet. ;D
I know, no pics it never happened eh!

You went with Fixy in the end then  [smile] I thought that nonsense that I had with the double left handed parallel guides might have put you off them. Looks a nice bit of kit wish I could spend that much on Festool  :( I managed to prang my van this week for what its gonna cost to fix it I probably could have bought that set  :( :( :(

In the end they had the stock! Axminster is/was out according to their website.
I've been saving a while and have had a run of cad design work to do for a local joinery company, the beauty of being self employed is I can work for anyone who will pay me! ;D  Anyway, I have to work some weekends now to help out the savings account, as it is my back up when times get hard.

Sorry to hear about the van, I found the inconvenience of not having mine while being repaired the hardest part. The good thing about our trade is we can always earn more money...even if it means not having the weekends free with the other half.

Greg, I sincerely hope that this part of the Festool system is UL approved soon. Maybe you guys need to contact your local congressman or something?
I can't see why it should take so long. My unit is 110v 50/60hz, so it can be used on UK building sites as & when required, so all it needs is a different plug to suit USA sockets.

Unfortunately UL is not a government entity

It is hard to understand the hold up. As the CMS is just a bunch of Aluminum. Then you attach your existing UL approved tool to the CMS. Oh true there is an on/off switch, big deal.  Does an on/off switch take years to approve?

So the issue must be how the CMS changes  the use existing tools or something.  Plus I do not think UL approval is a US government requirement. Mainly it comes down to insurance and liability?

It does all sound over complicated [eek]
Let's hope it gets un- complicated sooner than later.
Rob.

Looks like you will be seeing the UL-EU marking in the future -- the first company just received theirs.  Just think of the delays on future products in markets around the world...    [eek]

Okay I'm drooling.  The CMS set looks nice.  Wish we could get them on this side of the pond.

Rob is there any chance you are willing to do a review on the CMS and the Router inlay? I would love to see all it's features and how it works.
