Hi

Looking at adding to my growing Festool collection and hoping to take some advice from you all.

I have a Kapex 60e attached to an Underframe UG-KS60. I did not buy extension arms at the time but now want to given the timber joists I have to cut.

I could get the trimming attachments (parts 201907/201908) for either side of the underframe but I found while I was browsing the folding table extension for the MFT Table (part 203457).

Does anyone know if the underframe’s attachment point is the same one as used on the Festool MFT?

I’ve not found any pictures of the two being used together in this way and most videos and pictures suggest they might be compatible but nothing definitive that means I can order with confidence. I like the multi function use case for the table to one side of my Kapex as space is at a premium in my flat renovation.

Any help much appreciated.

Many thanks

Rob

If they're anything like the wings for the Kapex 120, my understanding is that the wing extensions can attach to an MFT, but not the other way 'round.  The top profiles are the same, but the attachment point is only a narrow section of the Kapex itself.  The extension table has a much wider attachment requirement.

Hi, welcome to the fog,its my understanding that it just clip into the v track and held by tension,I am thinking the same as you for 2x8 and greater material.A local shop should have one to try as the k 60 has a larger v attachment than my 120. guy[attachimg=1]

So I took a look this afternoon...

The attachment point on the extension table is 7 1/4" (approx 184mm) wide on the top v-grooves.

The attachment point on the Kapex 120 is around 6 1/2", but it's open on the sides, so the extension table can theoretically slot in.

BUT

The bottom portion of the extension table bracket is molded to slot into the lower channels on the MFT extrusion.  This interferes with the body of the Kapex and pulls the bracket up out of the groove on the Kapex, preventing a solid connection.  It also lifts the extension table 8-12 mm above the surface of the Kapex bed, limiting the usefulness as a flat extension.

I would imagine you could modify the bracket at the expense of stability when clipping it to an MFT or CMS, but I wasn't about to try it and find out myself.  The bracket is a $20.16 USD part, per EKAT.

Hi, thanks for time and the reply ,sound like you have reb, mine is just an old eb no extension. guy

Hi

Many thanks for the replies.

Inspired by Squall_Line I’ve ordered the connection piece from the folding table extension (Festool 204241 Connector) to test on the underframe’s adapter plate without committing to a full purchase. Will update this thread in case a future query raised by someone else.

I may also look at fixing the aluminium profile part somehow to the adapter plate if the connection isn’t feasible as is.

All the best and again grateful for the help/advice given.

My pleasure!

I look forward to seeing what you find out and come up with!  [smile]
