Festool FS Bag (Any reviews/comments?)

I am thinking of purchasing this new bag which hold more than the current bag I own but just wanted to check with any current owners if it is worth it and what they manage to carry in it?

I am thinking of investing in the MFS 700 and 400 set (Brice Burrells review to blame [big grin]) but want to carry them around in a way that they don't get damaged on site or in the back of the van, so wondered if anyone else carries them in this bag.

The bag has been out over here for a while now so any reviews or comments on its capacity would be interesting.

I assume you're talking about the big bag that we don't have in the States.  I can't offer any advice on the big bag but I do have some insight on transporting the MFS profiles, be careful with them.  The painted scales can be easily scratched off if the profiles are allowed to rub together.  I've no found a really good way to carry them yet.

My sister is in Sweden now visiting the in-laws,  she is bringing me back one of the deep bags.  I post my findings when I put it to use.

I bought it a earlier this summer (and promptly sliced through the top as I was trying to unpack it [mad]).  Outside of that mishap I love the thing.  There are a lot of places to store clamps, connecting rods, bench dogs, really whatever you like.  I have my parallel guides and a 1400 rail it it.  I also have my Qwas dogs, Walko supports, clamps, and connecting rods.  It was well worth the $ I paid for it.

Does it have a shoulder strap or would that just mix up the contents?

Guy, I have one ( got it with the parallel guides deal) and find it very useful.

I carry two FS1400's in the outer rail case, the contents from the FS Guide systainer kit, the parrallel guides, FS800, my 1mtr and 600mm steel rules, two 300mm cork faced clamps, the jigsaw guide rail adapter and still have room for more bits.

The shoulder straps (there are two, I guess that is so you can wear it backpack style) I never use, prefering the comfortable handle.
In short everything I use with the rails is in one place. Except the router accesories as they stay with the router in their own systainer.

On it's own it is pricey, and I would not have bought one, but having got one in the promo' I would not be without it.

I was wondering if there was room inside for the MFS rails, the 700 and 400 set which I am thinking of. I can see from the photos that there are a few sections but I cant see if these rails would fit.

I suppose that is what I am trying to find out as there isn't a case system for these MFS rails.

I use a 76 note keyboard case.  It holds (3) 1400 rails, (2) 48" Stabilas, (2) 24" Stabilas, a laser level, misc clamps, with lots of room to spare.

As I get an FS800 in the main bag  I see no reason you would not get the MFS kit in there, with room to spare. I'd post a photo but will not be back home 'til sunday.

The middle section of the bag (where the yokes for the parallel bars settle into) has a velcro'd flap that happily holds my FS800 in place, sure would hold the longer elements of the MFS and the shorter ones could fit in one of the clear zippered compartments that Festool show the suction clamps in.
If you need to see one up close, they had one on display at Axminster Nuneaton monday before last (we called in on our way to Sue's parents ;D) they also had the MFS kits in stock, I noticed. Maybe they would let you have a play with it all, the display is certainly for hands on scrutiny. [big grin]

They are a nice bag but too much for me I bought it as part of the parallel set but didn't really need such a big bag I dont carry many accessories I just use the normal rail bag and I will knock up a case for the guides.

That was the answer I wanted! [big grin] [big grin]

I am going to plumb for the guides and extensions with the bag but may have to haggle as the promotion finished last month on those and apparently Festool UK don't like to let them run over! (Even though they are still showing them on their website!)

Each time I log on to this site I just wish we had the support, input and assistance that Festool USA provide to the guys on their side of the pond.

You could try my dealer.  They did have full sets in but couldn't get rid of them so were selling the items separately.  They might have a bag, certainly worth a phone call.
