I was cutting 50mm slabs of finger jointed oak slabs and the hkc55 bit and threw its self out of the cut with such force It flew out of my hands and I unfortunately had one hand on it and one hand on the rail and didn't catch it in time and it fell on the concrete floor resulting it two parts of the casing cracked this happened when Festool closed for Christmas and I haven't spoken to them direct to find out how much it's going to cost to replace the casing going to be costly as its liked from the bed to the motor housing !

The concept of catching it is a bit scary [scared] ... do you juggle chainsaws in your spare time? [eek]

Okay I will have a look tonight as it's annoying me a lot ! Yes true but the blade stopped instantly when it came out of the cut but would be a different stories if it was spinning

I thought the hkc 55 had a riving knife?

I've had my makita tracksaw bite and climb out a couple times, never fun.

Has a built in riving knife that is built into the guard of the saw so when gaurd goes back for start of cut drops riving knife in thing is it's a crap riving knife needs to be 2.0 were the blade is1.8 it still catches a lot, but anyway that's another story and Festool fixed mine free of charge !
