In case anyone missed it, on page 44 of the latest edition of TOH, there's Tom, great big smile on his face, leaning against a fence, holding a C12 in his hand...  8)

The article includes common questions from readers that were answered by Tommy.  I think Tommy may have done the readers a disservice, he says with tongue in cheek.  On the opposite page, is an answer to the question about what tools are essential for every homeowner.  Part of the answer, I quote, "For drill/drivers, you'll get all the power you need from a 12-volt model; that's what I use.".   :D

Good question...  I do not know.  TOH only arrived yesterday afternoon.  Maybe someone else knows?

I'm at the office at the moment and internet access is severely restricted so I am unable to search.  I have no idea how I can even follow the FOG with all these restrictions.  :(

Is there a on-line link?

as I understand it, they do not endorse products or tools.  however they have to use them so we usually can tell by seeing them what tool they are... kapex drills guide rails are all shown on this old house.

I believe they do have some tool endorsements.  You can always tell on TOH, Yankee workshop, etc because they'll put black tape on the tool names.  Anyone who knows tools knows what the brand is from the color.  Delta/porter cable has done advertising on there.  And you'll see a unique tool here and there.  One I remember was a hoffman machine that cut little bow ties in the wood for joints.  They had a solo section of that show with a rep talking about it.

Tom Silva is a customer of one of our favorite Festool dealers...he uses them because they have proven themselves to be worthy. Over time, he may have gotten some additional incentive...who knows...but he bought them originally for sure. Most issues of  TOH magazine have a photo or two with a Festool tool visible. I actually have an autographed page from a few years ago on the shelf behind me as I write this. :)

i am doing a job and the neighbors came over to see the work and we were talking about tools,  he saw my D handle drill and said oh I saw that on this old house being used.

TOH = This Old House - A Public Broadcasting television series that has been on for decades that shows renovations of homes primarily.  Their is also a This Old House Magazine too.

Hope this helps those non-Yanks out there.
