Festool - Insulation saw 18v for accuracy and extraction - UK and Europe

New hose looks promising. I have two due for replacement so this is very timely.

I've never needed to cut insulation thicker than 220mm so that Hultafors knife does it for me - used it a few hours ago on 220 as a matter of fact. [big grin]

That new insulation cutter is a specialty machine for sure and they are not common over here - but I think that it will find a lot of users. I am sure Festool did not make it based on pure speculation.  After my talk with ze German rep I have realized that the woodworking markets in Europe differ quite a lot.

In the link one of the pictures shows it being used on a rail. Rail goes on the bottom with a "foot piece" on the rail.

....yes to the rail. One version clips on to the base of the ISC and there is 50mm to allow for. The other is a wheeled unit for use with the guide rail or independently

Dare I say, this looks slicker than your red competitor's offering.
I only wish the USA would get with the times when it comes to insulation.
I was surprised to find out that Home Depot carries Roxul now.
It's only been about 17 years since I started using mineral wool
for personal use, so that sounds about right.  I mean, we did just start using
chip cards this year. 🤣

 
I did take a look at the link and I do think it is innovative and that it does seem like a very well thought out piece of kit.

I am not in the market for one at all but I applaud the effort - and the outcome.
