Hi Everyone

Festool UK have very kindly let me borrow a KS 60 (and a CTM 26) and I have made two videos.

The first describes the saw:

and the second shows it in action:

I still think that David Stanton's videos are really good and I have mentioned him in my second video at about the 3 minute point.

The bottom line is that the saw is excellent. The small clamp supplied does not deserve to have the name Festool on it. There is a slight variation in level across the saw but it makes no difference to squareness of cut. Dust collection is excellent. The bed area is limited due to the 60 deg - 0 - 60 deg mitre range and so users need to be aware of this. Do look at my idea for a zero clearance insert which is just so easy to set up and use.

I made a triangle using the 60 degree mitre setting and it is very near to perfect - Phil  [member=41214]Phil Beckley[/member]  I have put this in the box with the saw ready for collection.

Hi!

As usual, great videos Peter! I enjoyed them very much!

Kind regards,
Oliver

Hi Oliver

Many thanks - I was beginning to think that this was an invisible thread !

The KS60 is a very neat bit of kit, nice and compact and as accurate as anyone would need. I had slipped the triangle thing that I made with those 60 degree cuts in the box with the Kapex ready for return to Festool only to discover that they are going direct to the next reviewer. I just hope that Phil Beckley gets it eventually as it really does demonstrate the accuracy of the machine.

I am a keen follower of your tool posts and hope to see some new stuff soon.

Cheers.

Peter

Great videos Peter.

I am more than happy with mine, certainly the accuracy is excellent for my needs.

However I find that the light is next to useless for exterior work (I noticed you used a pale shade of timber when illustrating this feature), and dust extraction is certainly far superior with the 32mm hose.  Also if you use the 27mm adaptor with the 32mm hose you will only get the dust extraction performance of the 27mm hose. I discovered this after using the adapted hose with another Festool.

Then of course, I still think Festool have tried to cover a design fault with charging extra for feet to make the saw compatible with a Sys1. A design fault or poor marketing? Maybe they could have had one model where owners could remove the foot extensions if required - and who would gave known?! Marketing!

However having splashed out on that extra foot option, I have to say the Sys 1 does provide an excellent support when working in the shop or as I am at the moment, extending an external deck.

I also note that this thread was commenced back in April. How was it missed by so many. Is it because this excellent saw is underrated?

Nice work on the review of the Kapex KS 60. Being portable and accurate are both things that I'd be interested in. I'm putting it on my list for a not too distant future purchase.
