Festool Kapex stand!!!!

What would be really neat is a stand that mounts on top of the vacuum with adjustable height so you could use a stack of systainers at either end to support your stock.

I'm not a Kapax owner nor do I use a miter saw often but I hate lugging around a stand, I'd rather cut on the floor.

That is a good kapex solution!  And look at the cool fences that they get for extensions...continual material support!  Bring it over here!

While we are on the subject, anyone running a Kapex 120 on the Dewalt Mitre Saw stand (DE7023)?

Guy,

There's a three-page thread about the Kapex on that same stand at http://festoolownersgroup.com/festool-tools-accessories/kapex-dewalt-stand/

Also see http://festoolownersgroup.com/festool-tools-accessories/kapex-dewalt-bosch-hitachi-or-miter-stands/

fshanno,

If you check out the FOG search engine (click on "Search" at the top left of the page), you'll find lots of threads about the Sawhelper, including Brice's excellent review (and video!) at http://festoolownersgroup.com/other-tools-accessories/sawhelper-ultrafence/

Just a note, Sawhelper has been out of production for about 18 months.  There is a "note on availability" on the website from late 2008 or early 2009.  I placed an order back in Sept/Oct of 2008, but haven't gotten an update in about a year.

Well, if you add up the price of the mft/3 kapex and the current extensions, you come to about $1100 usd. I'm sure the stand/fence combo is no cheap ticket!  Gotta go work to put $$$ in the festool piggy bank!

chintzy ?
lee

Flimsy, unstable, rickety, etc.

It looks to be just a bit of tubing and a couple of wheels from my CT.

I could be wrong but, by the picture it looks chintzy to me.

i agree warnerconstco.
i will not be buying this stand.
the price is ridiculous for what it is.
reminds me of the ridiculous price festool charges for the boom arm.

regards, justin.

I agree with you Warner!  I really wish somebody would pick up the ball on the sawhelper!

Not to get too far off topic but... I wish someone would start making a copy of the Sawhelper, I say that because I think the original patten has expired.

exactly brice...that's what i was referring to!  there should be a company out there with the ability to fabricate a similar product...as long as the patent is available.

Is sawhelper toally out of business?  Haven't been able to get a response out of them

Does someone who owns one have the patent #?  It would be interesting to see if it is expired so someone else could build it.  Sounds like thre is a demand.

They are out of business, have been for some time now. Will they come back, who knows. Sawhelper has two pattens, one is the early design and it has expired, the newer patten is for some sort of mounting bracket but it's unclear to me exactly what it is. My guess is the original design is open for any one to copy and someone likely will if it is possible.

Do you have a SawHelper Brice?  I wouldn't mind measuring one up for enough detail to build.
