Hi Everyone

Festool UK have kindly lent an MW1000 to me so that I could produce a video. I bought my MFT3 about 7 years ago and I wonder whether I might have bought the Mobile Workshop instead had it been available then !

Nice video Peter!  I concur that it will not be a solution for everyone but when you mentioned your thought about adding extra sliding drawers/trays that made me more intrigued for myself.

Good job!

Yes, a friend of mine bought one and he has added an extra drawer and it really works well.

Hi [member=3515]RJNeal[/member] and [member=66597]Mario Turcot[/member]

Many thanks chaps.

I am planning a follow up video showing it in use with some other Festool kit. I hope to do this early in the New Year.

I have been hit by the dreaded Norovirus and have been off my feet for a couple of days and so things in the latter part of 2018 are slipping.

Cheers.

Peter

Thanks Peter, I got a much better sense of the fit and build quality than from watching the other promo videos. Nice work. Also seeing the CT SYS with a couple of other systainers it made me realize it's not an "all-in-one" transportation solution.

Used it for the first day on site, pretty pleased so far - working in four different rooms and with less than optimal work space it allows me to "set up shop" quickly between the rooms and get out the way of the other fellas.

I do have another MW1000 table so I am thinking of bringing it out to expand the work table even further as some of the boards/pieces I process are around 300 to 450 cm.

I am making a sacrificial strip that fits over the long work table to allow for the HKC55 to operate without me strafing the landing area just yet. Haven't a scuff or a scratch on it yet. Gimme a few more days...

Hi Henrik

Things have been a bit hectic here for the last 6 weeks and I have been diverted from the video work. I want to take the MW1000 a stage further, probably into the realms that many clever people have envisaged already, and see how it performs as a cutting station with bench dogs and to see if there are any other expansion capabilities.

Right now I am doing my best to remodel the workshop (make it look a bit more attractive) as we will be moving this year.

I'm not sure why this hasn't been introduced in the US yet. I would buy one in a heartbeat. I sent an email to Festool USA but never got a reply. Jealous :-)

How stable is the MW1000 Extension table (203457) when attached to the CMS-GE, if anyone knows?  Festool says it's compatible, but note's that: "The connection with the CMS GE (freestanding version) may require clamping to make a stable connection.".  Not sure what/where you would clamp it to make it stable?

April 1 has a Festool and a Tanos version coming to the USA.

Thank you for an excellent a very useful review! I bought the MW 1000 Mobile Workshop after watching your video, and your review helped me make the decision to buy. Your vide also helped me assemble the product.

Interestingly, I had some unexpected (small) trouble with assembly. The base (dark blue) is a plastic mold. The two aluminum extrusion legs go into deep molded pockets. In both pockets there defects from the mold -- pieces of plastic of irregular shape. In one of the pockets, the defects were smaller. In the other pockets, they were larger. The defects precluded the two aluminum legs from seating all the way in. I used a long and sharp chisel to carefully remove the defects and move on with assembly. (The chisel: NAREX 1/2" Paring Chisel, blade length: 245mm = 9-1/2"; it was important that the chisel was long, regular chisels were not long enough to reach where needed). I admit: these molding defects caused disappointment with quality control. Otherwise, a very useful product.

Your video was excellent.

Hi [member=73957]DrDrey[/member]

Thank you for the feedback. Minor defects in plastic injection moldings are not uncommon and are usually superficial and easy to deal with. I am sure that some tired worker just missed it on the production line.

Cheers.

@ Peter Parfitt

Hey Peter I got the extension table had it for a while. Used it attached to a MFT.

Me being a bit slow :>D yesterday I removed my Kapex from the Kapex MFT to set a 12" thicknesses on it. I put the Kapex on the extension table and found the Kapex  mounting bolt will work perfectly on the extension table.
I was happy about that and that opens up even more used for it.

I am shop bound do very little in the field outside the shop.

But I thought this was worth passing on

Thanks Ron.

I had a chat to Mr D&M yesterday and said how sad it is not to have their show next month.

Stay safe.

Absolutely, must give it a try - could be handy in a pinch when Kapex is used for shorter pieces.
