Hi I just won a Festool bare battery drill at the Screwfix Live competition this weekend. It is bare only so looking for a charger and battery. Does anyone have any recommendations on which battery size to go for when using the basic drill?

Thanks in advance

Congratulations on your win and welcome to the FOG

I'd suggest you get a kit with 2 batteries a charger and a drill that way you can pilot a hole with one and drive in
fasteners with the other.

All the Best

Your link is to a drill, Festool 577332 Cordless Drill TXS 18 C 3.0-Plus,  and that's a perfect match for your impact.

I have that impact and the batteries will be fine for both items.

I imagine the Cordless drill T 18+3 is just a more powerful version of the above?

I'm not sure on that but their drills are powerful. I liked the old C12s myself and found them not lacking in power.

From my experience (and just by absolutely unscientific feel) I'd say the T18 offers somewhere in the range of 10-15% more power. If you use large 55mm holesaws it'll be a factor, if the biggest you do is a 35mm Forstner bit then not so much.
As a jack of all trades I'd still recommend the T18 / C18, also because it has this brilliant electronic clutch (25 settings vs. 13 on TXS).

I note it has 3Ah battieries - will these last in the impact?
The 3Ah are excellent for the drills; they'll last you all day but make the drills a lot more nimble. I even run my BHC impact with them, dips into reinforced concrete ceilings like a hot knife in butter, 100 holes in a row.
