Hi,
I am new to this Forum so this topic may have been covered already, I am about to start Oiling 12 Oak doors using the Festool indoor Oil, I bought the whole kit and before I start out does anyone know of any pitfalls I should look out for. Basically I want to know the procedure with the Green and White Pads and anything I shouldn't do.
Thank you,
Happy New Year to you all.

Hi  [welcome] to the fog

No pitfalls just folow the instructions just watch the pads on edges ect as you are liable to rip them up.

have fun.

I have to admit that when I saw "Festool Oil", I thought it might be another item like blinker grease.  Guess it's another NAINA item...

[big grin]

i have now used up quite a bit of bottles of the oil by now so i'm starting to know how it works lol.
Following the instructions to the letter gets you the best finish basically, using it on assembled pieces with lots of corners is more delicate, especially the heavy duty oil! When you wipe away the excess oil, make sure you go in all the nooks and corners, if you leave any "wet" patches, it will harden that way! It will not soak in or evaporate, the next day you have a solid rough film left, and you can re sand everything.
The finish is initially darker and deeper, it takes a couple days/weeks to get it's final clearer tone
And even though "it's just oil" and feels dry rapidly, don't touch it the first 4-6 hours!

Hi Timtool,
I used the Oil on some Oak doors and my guess is it is made for applying to horizontal pieces not pre-hung Doors and Frames, the finish is first class and it is a good colour. I only did one coat.
