Festool on eBay in the US

So I was trying to use my eBay bucks on a Festool item from Hartville Hardware but I noticed all their Festool products were gone from eBay. I messaged them and they said that as of July 1st US Festool Dealers are not allowed to sell on ebay :( .....
So frustrating. They don't want anyone using eBay's 15% off any item promotions. Prices are just so high in the US that eBay was the only way I would buy some Festool products. Over in Europe systainers and accessories are much cheaper. I've gotten them off of foreign sites for a fraction of the price they go for over here.

Anyways, just wanted to vent lol  [tongue]

That's unfortunate, I have used this a few times in the past.

That said, I haven't seen any 15% off eBay coupons in a while.

Yeah I haven't seen that promotion in a while either but they did have a 13% back in eBay bucks deal a couple of weeks ago.

You can still get Festool on eBay but the authorized sellers who offer a warranty won't be allowed to it looks like. Most of the third party sellers have higher prices as well. They didn't say the 15% off was the reason but it must have been either that or the eBay bucks that prompted this.

Hopefully Amazon isn't next...

This change was probably in response to the promotional coupons (i.e. 10%, 15%, or 20% off purchases).  I remember at least one thread on here with remarks about these promotional coupons not being fair to all Festool dealers.

Just to clarify, the discounts were absorbed by ebay, not the sellers, who received the full price payment for anything sold at a discount. So there was no actual discounting by a dealer during these ebay promotions.

Yeah, but I think the point was that dealers not using eBay couldn't (can't) offer any type discount without losing dealer status, whereas dealers on eBay clearly profited from eBay treating their customers/users to a discount and had an "unfair" advantage by it.

I'd be not amused, too.

However eBay is struggling in terms of sales growth, and I'm pretty sure the discounts are coming/ came from a raise of marketing capital. But that's not the topic of this thread, sorry, I got carried away.

Honestly, I feel for you guys overseas.

Kind regards,
Oliver

The power tools seem to be about the same overseas but I envy the accessory prices available in other countries.

For example, the track saw carrying bag in the US costs $110. That’s insane for a fabric bag. I got the same bag shipped to the US from overseas and the price including the shipping was $40 US!!!

The accessories must be making Festool a lot of money here $$$

[member=61712]six-point socket II[/member] , you are probably correct that some dealers made racket through the ranks at Festool.  Your comment about eBay wanting sales growth makes sense too, because I never quite understood why eBay would take such a significant financial hit.

It is such crap as the coupons were few and far between and were most certainly eaten by eBay via their selling fees. Basically drumming up business. The reseller was not discounting anything. Oh well. Maybe Festool will throw us bone with a coupon.

Yeah - it is too bad. Not sure how this is much different than some sites offering "points" for reviews and purchases that can be applied to future tool purchases (including Festool). Same concept...

I have some ebay bucks I have to use too - not sure where I will spend them, but they expire at the end of the month.
