Not sure what I think about this. Its a neat idea - turns a Festool 18V battery into a USB charger, including wireless charging.
Useful in an emergency, but otherwise dont we all have chargers to hand?
at £50 its priced OK IMO.

Yes we all have chargers, but being able to charge a phone after your power has been out for a few days is priceless. I know you can use many different power sources, this just adds one more.

If you needed to make a call it would be frustrating to be sitting there with a dead phone and three fully charged 18v batteries without an adapter to power that phone.

The wireless charging is a nice touch but I wonder how efficient it is compared to using a cord. I have enough batteries and adapters for my other tool brands that I could probably go a month without power and keep my phone charged.

Most USB charge adapter outputs I have seen are rated in Amps.
But looking at the wireless chargers I see they use watts for many
of them.

1.2A seems to be about normal and 2.1A for faster charging of phones
that can accept it or for tablets.

The introduction of QC & PD fast charging capability made it more complicated. These can vary the voltage for compatible phones etc. So Watts it has to be really,

Shame the USB ports on this charger aren't QC or PD compatible! Festool releasing a product that is already out of date.

I’m not sure I’d call it out of date… 12w (and no QC/PD) is perfectly acceptable for charging phones, which is what this product is designed to do.

But, if they’d put QC and/or PD it would have gone from being a phone charger to being a mini power bank with loads more uses. It would have bumped the price up, but I’d have probably bought one, whereas a phone charger alone isn’t enough for me to blow the cobwebs off my wallet.

I'd prefer to use an Anker PowerCore charger that allows me to charge three devices simultaneously, and even power my camera when I'm doing night sky photography.  I will note that the price has gone up by $20 since I bought mine three months ago.

And that’s basically what I use, but I’d still like to have something with similar outputs, but that runs off Festool batteries. Not to replace it, but for different situations.

I use the DeWalt and Milwaukee equivalents, which use cables, on camping trips.  Works great.

Handy for three day festivals where your vehicle is half a mile away and you want to charge yer phone though eh?

Just try slipping a Festool battery in your back pocket...  [blink]

Exactly. Different situations.

Like I said, I already have a slim, lightweight QC/PD battery, but I’d also like a Festool adaptor that did the same because there are lots of situations where I already have Festool batteries with me (although I don’t tend to use my back pocket for them).

If I was going on holiday, I wouldn’t be using a Festool phone charger.
