I have an opportunity to purchase a new 850 Festool planer for $400. I do not know what I would use it but it is a great price. What can I do with it? Help please.

Thanks.

Looks like some enterprising customers might be reselling 40% recons.  [huh]

Here's a quick video showing the HL 850 in action with the optional cutter heads.

Anyway that we can check serial numbers against those recently sold?  That should put a stop to that type of enterprise. . .

Currently, no.

Only a one year warranty on reconditioned tools. For your protection, I would suggest you ask the seller and keep a record of their response.

If a deal is too good to be true...

400 dollars is a good price! I paid €500 for mine a few years ago. Its a great tool and i find it useful however since i got the track saw it has done a lot of the planers tasks.Depth adjustment is nice! I recently used my friends makita & it just takes off,the festool go's on the pressure of your finger on the trigger! I know this on most tools put i think its especially important on a planer & router! Its a decent price but if you don't use it often other planers i assume would be around the 200 dollar mark.
