festool planex reach sander problem

hi there
i am writing from uk and i would like to ask specialists a question..
i have got planex reach sander atached to srm 45 e dust extractor for my drylining job...
problem i have got the sander it is blowing a lot of dust outside... i clean the filter it has got new bag and still blowing dust from the head of the sander..;(
i donno why it is doing it...
can you help me with the problem?

Welcome to the forum.

You don't say if the Planex and SRM 45 are new or if you've had them for a while. Is this a new problem, have you ever had good dust collection with it?

Some things to consider/check...

- Make sure the suction is turned all the way up on the SRM 45. Control suction using the dial on the Planex.
- If your surface is uneven or textured, switch the Planex to capture dust from the perimeter of the pad.
- I would remove the hose from the Planex and check to ensure that you have full suction at the end of the hose and there's no blockage. With the hose connected and the Planex turned OFF, check to see if you feel good extraction at the head of the Planex

If that doesn't help, please share as much detail about it issue as possible and we'll try to help you out.

You may have tried this but switching the position of the suction switch on the Planex head so that all the suction goes through the pad helps in some cases. The Planex is no longer 'sucked' to the wall / ceiling but sometimes you get less dust that way.

thank you for quick response...
i have that machine about 2 years now and before it was no dust at all....
i did contact festool uk, but they say to me they got to take both hoover and sander for inspection to tell me a bit more about the problem what my have..
the say to me i might have a leak somware so the dust blowing away, but they got to investigate ....
i did check without planex atached to the hoover ... switched it off put on zero on the hoover, and then i was switched back on bloking the hose...hoover got very good suction it start clean it self and then start beeping.... i put planex back on again, sand down a bit and start blowing again...
i switched on the head of the planex to.... when it is on position for sucking to hoover it blowing more then when it is on the other position...;(

Again, I would plug the hoover into the Planex and leave the Planex turned OFF. See if you can feel good suction on the pad with it set for center-pad extraction.

You could remove the pad and check behind the pad for a blockage. Also, inspect the extension pieces for a blockage.

If it's 2 years old, it should be covered by warranty.

With the pad removed, set the extraction switch to outside of the pad. That will open a gate in the tube on the Planex's head. You should be able to clear any blockage with your hoover or by fishing something through the tube that WILL NOT puncture it. Also, you should be able to see completely through the extension tube sections and the handle unit.

Also, make sure your hoover's bag is not full.
