So, where are we and what do we know about the Pro 5 Limited Sander Promotion?

The short answer is "not much." Another answer is that this should be renamed the Festool Pro 5 EXTREMELY Limited Sander Promotion.

We do know that demand far outstripped supply. We had on our initial PO more than enough sanders to fill our customers' orders.  BUT, most - if not all dealers, will not be given their full quantity of sanders ordered for the November 1st launch, in fact dealers will be shipped a fairly small percentage of those sanders. The wheels at Festool are grinding - looking for the best, fairest resolution - no easy answers here.

All dealers are waiting on Festool for updates - when and if more/enough sanders will be manufactured to meet current preorders.
I will be posting here and emailing customers as soon as we get any further word from Festool. And we all have our fingers crossed.

Thanks for that update, Bob. I'm sure there are many wondering besides myself.

Clint

This situation is just amazing. Festool decided to basically give sanders away if people bought a discounted special systainer (after figuring in voucher) and they were surprised by the response.

I assume that they will honor the pre-orders or they will look terrible and possibly face legal sanctions. I do not think that they can claim that this promotion was a typo that they do not have to honor.  [tongue]

Welcome, Clint. Agreed, many are wondering. The 'good news" is we should know more in a day or two.

As mentioned above, and elsewhere, we are all eagerly waiting on Festool. But I can assure you of this much - Festool will not claim a typo.

This was sent to all customers who have placed a preorder for the PRO sander and whose order will not be shipping November 1st. Not much more than a reiteration of my initial post and this would have been sent earlier in the week, but I was hoping to have something/anything more concrete from Festool before sending this email at 3pm today. No dice.

As many are aware by now, the demand for the Festool 5 inch Pro Sander has far surpassed supply. We have ordered more than enough on our initial PO to fill our customer's orders. Because Festool had underestimated this demand, Festool is limiting the number of sanders shipped to dealers. I was waiting to hear more concrete information from Festool as to when and if the next batch of these Sanders will be available, but as of today we haven't heard anything yet.

The only thing I can say for certain is that your order will be delayed past the November 1st ship date. Additionally, if you ordered more than one, I may only be shipping one, depending on how many more Festool sends me.

As soon as we receive more information from Festool in the next day or so, I will email you as to the status.

I'm terribly sorry for this inconvenience, but let's keep our fingers crossed.

If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact me at bob@marinofestool.com or call me at (973) 896-4388.

There is a big difference between your item is shipping sometime after Nov. 1 and your order is canceled. A delay in receiving a quality tool purchased at unprecedented low price is not loss in my book.

They way some people are going on about the confusion around this special deal you'd think they were not going to get the thing they paid for. But, since no one has actually paid for anything yet (except the few who made the mistake of using PayPal) a simple delay in receiving the tool is no big deal IMO.

The big mystery is the uncertainty about relatively late orders. Will they ultimately be filled at some unknown future date? At this point not even the dealers know.

The two most important words (in red)  in that update IMO - I take that as, "even though your order was accepted during the pre-order stage (and mine was placed within minutes of receiving the notification from BM) you are still not guaranteed anything at this time."  It would be nice if I interpreted this incorrectly...

There should be an update on this next week. We know that everyone is in a holding pattern, so we're trying to get answers as quickly as possible. Still, there are a lot of moving pieces, so things never happen as quickly as anyone would like. We (and I) appreciate your patience.

Just picked up my Pro 5 Sander earlier today!  Comes with a sample pack of Granat paper 2 of each (80,120,150,180,220), one P120 paper, new connecting sleeve, edge guard, cord, $50 coupon, manual.  Undecided on the new systainer colors. Purchased it for my neighbor who keeps borrowing my Festool sanders.  I will keep the coupon! Figured I would get him hooked on Festool with his first tool and then watch the fun begin when he will suddenly feel the need to add to his Festool collection!

Ok, guys after reading the above post how do you all feel about either having to wait until Tuesday - if you are among the lucky few, or the overwhelming majority who will have to wait a yet undetermined amount of time for their sanders to ship, and have this guy post about having his in hand days before dealers are allowed to ship or sell? Maybe in this world we live in, some will say "good for him, I wish I had such a dealer" but this simply isn't right and fair to the way overwhelming number of dealers abiding by the rules and their customers who placed their faith and orders with them. @Tyler, I hope Festool will act on this. If not, why not?
Very disappointing and aggravating -  to say the least.

Bob - Sadly there have been a handful of posts online about people getting these sanders before the street date. It's too bad all dealers don't have integrity and morals. I don't care if the buyer got his tool 4 days early, but the dealer should be dropped by Festool for sure. The dealer signed up and agreed to abide by the terms set by Festool, if they can't do a simple thing like release a tool on a specific date, they should not be allowed to handle the product at all.

While I agree that you need to obey the rules, no harm done here if it was on first come first serve basis (that person must have placed order earlier than most). This will not delay, nullify, or affect anyone else order.

I know my dealer well enough that they will go out of their way to make sure I'm happy and take care of any issues i come across but i also know them well enough not to ask if i can pick up my sanders on monday when I'm picking up my replacement carvex.  They follow the guidelines as they should and i will have to make another trip on tuesday.

I don't think its the buyers fault for picking up his sander early. This ones completely on the unprofessional dealer

Huh? Really? I don't think so! Your response is so wrong on so many different levels. I'll leave it up to others to chime in if they so choose to, but I'll simply say, it's against the rules and unfair to those on that list and other dealers playing by the rules. I don't care that he is in Canada, they have the same release date as those here in the USA.

Well said.

Ok, I think I said enough for now and will be enjoying my sister's 60th Birthday Party. Now where are those drinks? [wink]

I read earlier in this post about the unfortunate people who paid using paypal.  I bought 3 of them using paypal.  What exactly is different about using paypal.  And before anyone jumps on me about buying 3, I am a floor refinisher, I use these sanders hard and daily.  Mine are not for resale.  Sam

Yes, its against the rules and is wrong and should be addressed by Festool. But will it affect others? No.
So, "aggravating" is not the term I would use. More like don't care.
