Festool Pro 5 Limited Sander Promotion - where are we?

As far as bang for buck. I'd have happily paid 99 for just the bare tool and systainer. Everything else was a bonus.

Welcome to the FOG...you've made a great purchase and enjoy the experience of working with a great tool.  I'd/we'd  be interested in you posting your first project with the Pro 5.

The FOG as a group, is a pretty interesting bunch of diverse, discombobulated individuals that process anything from wood to wrought iron. That's what makes the reading interesting, that's what makes the learning fun.  [big grin]

Fellow enthusiasts!
I contacted Festool today and they said that all promotion Pro 5 sanders in the blue systainer were shipped with vouchers. Let's hold judgment that CPO is simply unaware of this and all buyers will get what they expect.

The FOG is a great forum that I peruse often. I enjoy learning about new products and techniques. I also truly enjoy that the members are very passionate about what they do. It is a unique forum made up of good people.

Cheers!

I ask the question three times before I got the same answer as Dovetail, the first indicated to contact Festool regarding the voucher, the second said everything was included as delivered from Festool, the third was the same response as Dovetail got.  So it is unclear.  I pointed out to them the listing said the item was new and unopened so if the voucher is not there they had to have opened them to remove them.  I noticed they ended the auction shortly after I sent the email, within a couple of minutes.  They are looking as SNAD claims (significantly not as described) for potentially all of them they have shipped out.  Based on getting 3 different responses I have a feeling whomever is answering them has no idea what is going on.

BTW I ask three times once for each auction since they did not respond to the first query until after I ask the third time.

I got one of the ones for $109.  Supposed to be here Monday so I can say for sure then if the voucher is in there.  I strongly suspect they didn't list the voucher with the contents in the posting because it's just a piece of paper - just like they didn't list the owner's manual or registration card.

Anyway, I'm with some others here.  This thing is a steal at $99, $109, or $119...  even without the voucher.

I appreciate the warm Welcome. I've lurked my fair share, and I've wandered deep into the Green Rabbit Hole. It a brand of quality and durability. I'm an auto technician by trade, so I know what it's like to rely on your tools to feed your family.

Nothing wrong with a motor head...I originally started wrenching on motorcycles and cars, machining metals was next and then it was house construction. Purchase quality tools and they'll last a lifetime. This is an interesting group...

Did Festool do anything for Black Friday? I need a 10% off a Domino or something.
Not typically. They have done promos for certain tools like the Domino, Kapex, vacs, Planex where the line was a certain % off, but not anywhere near Black Friday as I recall ... (so far anyhow!)

Did they do anything for December last year?  I need a Domino...lol

Nope, no Black Friday sales, that's not how they roll.

Well, I bought and paid for mine on the 6th before the cutoff on the 7th.  I was going to use the voucher toward a Kapex (FINALLY!!!!) and a bunch of sandpaper for the new sander. I am just waiting to receive mine to place that order with the dealer that sold it to me.

As much as I love Festool, I would be hard pressed to spend anymore money with a company that wouldn't honor it's promotion to those that got the order in before they cut it off on the 7th.

I don't mind waiting another few weeks to get it since I understand the whole supply/demand thing, but I would definitely hold Festool responsible if they didn't honor, at least, the quantities they sold before the sales cutoff.  That would be pretty poor customer service/relations.  How can you trust a company or spend your money with a company that won't even keep their word?  I was always under the impression that Festool was above that and was the company with integrity.

If Festool would at least come out and say that each person that placed an order before the 7th is guaranteed to get theirs, abliet a little late, then I think that would ease a lot of minds.  Even if they only ship 1 to people that ordered multiples, at least each person is getting one.

I know this is my first post here, but I thought, what a great time to jump in!

I received my PRO from the ToolNut this afternoon. I had ordered it the day that I received an email about the promotion; October 4th.

The systainer contents were:
Sander
Edge Guard
Plug-It cord
Manual
Sample pack of paper (thank god!)
Hose adapter (Appears to be a new product)
$50 Voucher

As far as bang for buck. I'd have happily paid 99 for just the bare tool and systainer. Everything else was a bonus.

Maybe I didn't look hard enough at the contents last night...is the edge guard supposed to be included?

Yes, it's stored vertically along the left side of the Systainer. Had to double check to find mine as well. It kind of blends in!

See Bob's reply #88 this thread.

Awesome.  That is a relief at least.
Thanks for the heads up.  I missed that one in the thread for some reason.

There seems to be a video for all occasions. I thought this one was downright silly, but perhaps not...in all that excitement. of being among the chosen few..some may find this useful.

So this Pro 5 sander thing continues to evolve and continues to add drama to the mix. A new twist and turn every day. Hollywood couldn't write a more engaging script.

Well, I guess engaging is only relative to Foggers. A bunch of old fuddy duddies who genuinely enjoy watching paint dry and revel at how the changing sheen levels are worth documenting, while they lament that the sheen levels achieved nowadays are nowhere close to those available in the 60's, 70's and 80's.
. Well sure, make fun of the lead levels in oil based paint back then, the use of Benzene as a cleaning solution using your bare, unprotected hands. The same with percethylene .... You're no fun [member=44099]Cheese[/member] ,....take all the joy of by-gone pastimes...... [poke] [poke] [poke] [doh] [doh]

Have to agree. When I get to the end of a 5 minute "whats in the box" video and the tool never gets turned on, I always feel like I lost 5 minutes of my day.

Never really understood the unboxing videos.

Probably hurts the resale value.

For a channel with workshop in it's name, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of working going on.

My unboxing experience was quite different. I ordered from Bob so I needed a couple sticks of dynamite and a jack hammer to get to my systainer.  [big grin]

Anyone - does the voucher significantly alter how much you'd be willing to pay for this sander?

Absolutely, for me being retired, money doesn't come easily, so I'd be willing to pay a minimum of $150 or more for a Pro 5 without a voucher because it'd probably save me $1200 at least in future Festool purchases.

I hear that, the 50$ is like an excuse for me to buy a rotex, already thinking about it...if the pro 5 ever arrives

I ordered 2 of them on the 4th and I'm very disappointed in how Festool handled the whole thing. Absolute amateur hour.i think the company as a whole has been slipping since they came out with the clearly defective Kapex. Then the TS55 req recall as well as the newer jigsaws that they had trouble even getting out.
This is the first time they came out with a tool that is actually priced at a cost that's its worth and they've failed miserably.
I enjoy every Festool I have for the most part and I own a lot, but they neeed to be careful, I'm losing faith in the brand and there's more and more options becoming available.
I'd like to see dealers take a stand as I'm surprised they put up with this. Strict pricing, low profit margins, seems hardly worth the hassle.
