Festool Pro 5 Limited Sander Promotion - where are we?

Well sure, make fun of the lead levels in oil based paint back then, the use of Benzene as a cleaning solution using your bare, unprotected hands. The same with percethylene .... You're no fun [member=44099]Cheese[/member] ,....take all the joy of by-gone pastimes...... [poke] [poke] [poke] [doh] [doh]

Ain't that the truth...times and awareness have certainly changed...even for a curmudgeon like myself.  I remember when I would wash my hair (it was below my shoulder at the time) with Comet cleanser to remove the transmission or rear end differential gear lubricant from it. Traditional shampoo and even dish washing detergent would not even touch the stuff. Comet with bleach worked. Hmmm...maybe that's what happened to all my hair. [jawdrop]

Ah, the good old days.  My first job was as a stainer at a custom kitchen factory.  The stripping tank, probably 80 gallon was right beside the door to the parking lot.  The salesman from Spruance told that if there ever was a fire to run like h*** away from that exit...the stripper was one component away from naplam.  Nobody wore gloves, we worked with laquer thinner and stain 48 hours a stndard week.

I ordered 2 of them on the 4th and I'm very disappointed in how Festool handled the whole thing. Absolute amateur hour.i think the company as a whole has been slipping since they came out with the clearly defective Kapex. Then the TS55 req recall as well as the newer jigsaws that they had trouble even getting out.
This is the first time they came out with a tool that is actually priced at a cost that's its worth and they've failed miserably.
I enjoy every Festool I have for the most part and I own a lot, but they neeed to be careful, I'm losing faith in the brand and there's more and more options becoming available.
I'd like to see dealers take a stand as I'm surprised they put up with this. Strict pricing, low profit margins, seems hardly worth the hassle.

At this point if you own every tool, they do NOT need to be careful.

Ok , I think FT are getting the message from you.

The only thing I am disappointed in, is not ordering one.
Especially after seeing people hawking them on eBay for 85$ more, and still keeping the 50$ certificate.

Please read again. I at no point said I own all of their tools. Thanks for your useless post though

Festool and Tool nut still haven't come through, arggggggg...!!! Did I make my purchase before the deadline? Yes! Purchased the first few hours of the sale. I did however get a email from tool nut stating that it hasn't shipped and they will notify me when it does.  Rant over....

Well from my personal observations, you needed to place your order within the first 2 hours of the Pro 5 announcement to ensure tool delivery within the current time frame. Whether that was from Toolnut or Uncle Bob those are probably the realistic time constraints.

Things will get better and Festool has acknowledged that they will fulfill the pre-orders, we just need to sit tight and weather the storm a bit longer.

Yep, you are correct as you said, "A lot".
It is difficult, because FT are generally good... Just not guaranteed to be good from brand name alone.

It is hard to know whether they are good until the dust settles and we get a clearer picture of them.

Your point about the dealers was sage. One can only assume that the dealers and FT will be reaping benefits by gaining a new customer base.

Maybe you should have ordered one from CPO ?    [eek]  That would have given you certainty of delivery date.

Neither Festool or Tool Nut gave a specific delivery window other than it would be After Nov.1.  It was clear it was a "limited" offer without saying how it was to be limited.  I understand the frustration, but we know the saying about looking the gift horse in the mouth.  I'm sure there is someone out there that didn't get an order in before the moratorium that would gladly trade places with you and wait til Q2 2017 if necessary.

This is what I meant when I had my say a little further back in this thread
I received news the news was just a little vague and pretty much useless is all...

Guys, again I offer my apologies and share in your frustration. We cannot ship what we do not have, even though we ordered plenty of sanders. We cannot give more information if we do not have it.

However, I have been told that we should have more details from Festool regarding additional inventory on Monday. As soon as I get that information, I will share it with everyone. Emails will be sent to customers with an ETA on delivery.

We have been told that we will be shipped enough sanders to fill all of the orders that were placed by our customers.

We communicated that the sanders would ship on 11/1. This was the information provided by Festool when this promotion was launched. However, we had no way of knowing that Festool would go into a backorder and oversell the sanders, which resulted in them allocating inventory to all dealers and affecting our ability to ship to some of our customers on 11/1. We have always shipped all of our preorders promptly on the release date, but this is an exception that was out of our control.

Know that you will get the sander that you ordered from us as soon as we get inventory from Festool.

I dont see how anyone could blame the vender's. We all know you guys have zero to do with it. For the most part this isn't a situation where the vender's have or had the tools and dropped the ball.

I have some things to say about how CPO eBay has dealt with us(men and my bro) becasue they had sanders, played with pricing 15 minutes after we paid, then denied the sanders were ever 99 dollars or had vouchers. As far as Tool Nut and Bob, they are definitely on the up and we all know it's out of their control.

Not excusing CPO, but in a highly volitle market those with inventory of a popular item can command whatever price they want.

If enough people feel the price not worth it , or feel the service / experience too unsettling or unethical , then things will change. That doesn't seem to be the case though.

Complaints shouldn't be censored, but those doing the complaining might temper how voraciously they are doing so ; given the stakes.  It's not like you've just been told your $45m plane is going to be delayed another six months because 25 other people signed up before you did and you now have to take the bus to work.  [scared]
We're talking about a sander used primarily by hobbyists that cost about two weeks worth of lunch money for many of them.

Another thing some may want to consider is that some large ebayers use software that manipulates the listing prices based on inventory to maximize revenue . Again - that ol supply and demand thing. I've seen a Festool vac accessory I was shopping listed for $2400 and enquired if it was a typo. It was not. And it wasn't a planex either  [tongue]

Just going to have to wait for the sanders that were ordered to arrive.............................

Until then these topics , for the most part,  will be  .................  [dead horse]

Seth

If anyone is in a hurry, I saw some on Craigslist this afternoon. They're going for $250-300 for some sucker.

Got an email from my dealer yesterday telling me my sander is in!  Unfortunately I can't get there until Monday  [sad]

Congrats and thanks for the update.  I'm anxiously awaiting and eagerly anticipating the phone call about mine.
