I'm waiting on my Kapex promo, hopefully will not regret the purchase, and am close to having the money for the Domino DF 500 but wonder if I should buy it slightly used or even from Recon sale.  Next in line are probably MFK700 and maybe someday the vacuum clamp.

Do you think there will be any Recon sales over the holidays?  What tools would you buy or avoid buying used or from the Recon sale?  Would tool are you itching to buy?

I did t know they did that? Is it normal practice for Festool to do this?

I have no idea if there will be a recon sale. And there is no normal / regular for Festool recon sales. For a while it was  sort of  normal, but not really.

I avoid all of them at this point.    10% off just isn't enticing enough in exchange for losing two years of warranty and NO 30 day NQA return privileged.

That is my view as well.

With my terrible luck with Domino, I definitely wouldn't buy it reconditioned but maybe there's some other tool which doesn't require such precision which would be worth it like a drill, etc.

For the most part, not worth it.  But for stuff like Planex that pop up for like 1/2 price, sure, go for it.

I bought my TS55 thru the recon, but that was the only way to get a metric one.  Which is I think a big part of the recon, it's a way to get tools you can't get anymore.

I don’t know, I’ve been pretty satisfied with my purchases the last couple of years.  [big grin]

DTSC...$504 vs $659
HL 850...$487 vs $680
ETSC...$336 vs $465
DF 700...$1072 vs $1525
MFK 700...$394 vs $580

All told that’s a discount of from 25% to 32%.

Cheese that's not really fair to the new guy because the latest sales haven't been anywhere close to your savings.

Also, comparing your discounted price from years ago to today's new cost isn't really fair either.  That pesky 2-5% increase every year makes your "discount" look better too - the farther back you bought your tool.

Recent trends are that Recons are 10% less than the going rate, not 25-30%.

I've gotten 25% off, but after the 25% off was enough to pull the trigger the Vac-SYS went down 25% anyway.  I am still happy to have taken the plunge here though.

Also sometimes the tools might be slightly out-of-date, e.g. my HKC came w/o Bluetooth batteries when the most modern one did have them.

But having an HKC, RAS, RS 2, VAC SYS, at reduced prices is worth it.

For the Kapex, I never puleld the trigger because I feared needing the warranty.

Sorry xedos...those are the prices that I paid in 2018 & 2019...the last recon sales I'm aware of. Remember when the cordless DTSC & the ETSC 125 were released...it's been within the last 2 years.
If I dig deeper into my receipts I can pull out a 40% discount on a Kapex.

I've showed the recent trends...the trends for 2018 & 2019 were from 25%-32%...the trend for 2020 was ZERO because Festool didn't offer up a recon sale in 2020.

Fair enough.

I think it folly if Bugsy counts on getting 25% though.  Even when the program resumes.

I just saw the VAC SYS Clamping Module System Set posted on festoolrecon.com for $1,031.25 .  I haven't gotten an email notification yet.
