I got an email notification of a recon sale starting, I wonder is there a list of toys up for sale.
Shane any help with this one

Sal

First, sorry to Richard and our friends in Canada, but this particular recon sale is only available to US customers. Canadian customers, please contact your preferred Festool dealer for information about obtaining reconditioned tools, there is a separate program there. Also, there are no reconditioned tools sales shipped to Hawaii or Alaska at this time.

All sales of reconditioned tools are final. Festool does guarantee, however, that the tools will be delivered complete and in good working order. Festool’s standard warranty will apply to these tools for a period of one year from the date of purchase. Festool will pay shipping to and from the repair center during that one year warranty.

Here's a quick overview about discounts and condition. As a general rule, the more wear and tear a tool exhibits, the greater the discount. Though classification is somewhat subjective, the following should be used as a general guide.

10% Discount Level - Unused tools. Original packaging with slight impairment (damaged, labeled and/or dirty).
20% Discount Level - Slightly used tools. Original packaging with slight impairment (damaged, labeled and /or dirty).
30% Discount Level - Moderately used tools. Original packaging damaged (tears, spots and dust).

As for which tools are available, I would direct you to contact your preferred Festool dealer, who has access to real-time inventory. That inventory can be very fluid, especially during the next week or two, so I don't want to publish a list per se since it will likely change very quickly. Most of these are T-LOC, but there are a few in Classic Systainers. But here's some of what we have:

Cordless Drills - TDK 12, TDK 15, C12 NiCd, T12, T15, CXS, C15, T18 and C12 LiIon
Domino - DF 500 and XL (XL is now sold out)
Dust Extractors - MINI, 22, 33, MIDI, 26, 36
Jigsaws - PS/PSB 300
Miter Saws - Kapex
MFT - MFT/3 (not the basic or Kapex versions)
Planers - EHL 65 and HL 850
Track Saws - TS 55 and TS 75
Routers - 2000, 1010, 1400, 2000 Basic, 2200, MFK 700
Sanders - DS 400, RS 400, RS 2, DX 93, LS 130, RTS 400, DTS 400, RAS 115, Shinex RAP 150, RO 150 E (original Rotex), RO 125, ETS 125, ES 125, Planex, RO 150 FEQ (current Rotex), ETS 150/3 and /5, RO 90, LEX 185/7, LEX 150/3

Check with your dealer for which discount levels are available for each of those tools. All tools are dropshipped form our Indiana warehouse.

Last time I purchased a recon it was through the Festool USA website......is that not how it works this year?

No, you will need to order through your dealer. I doubt any dealers will make recons available for order online because it would be hard to keep inventory availability correct. So, you'll need to call or visit your dealer.

I didn't receive any e-mail from Festool USA. :(

That's because we didn't send one.  [wink]

I think Sal got it from his dealer but I'm not sure who that was.

Shane. I got the email from Beaver Tool. I took it for granted the cat was out of the bag

Dealers were able to announce the program starting today. I just wasn't sure of your source, but I suspected Beaver since I saw it on their website's homepage.

PS - I just gave dealers a way to list availability on their website in real-time, so you may see that on some of our dealers' website soon. Note that not all dealers are participating, it's optional.

Hey Guys,

Since it has not been mentioned yet and will be coming up quite often, this needs to be mentioned and it's regarding sales tax. Festool will charge and collect from dealers and remit  sales tax at retail value for all the Recon tools in which Festool has a sales tax nexus. Dealers are obligated by contract (unless they are already collecting sales tax in a given state to charge the customers  (in the below states) and in my case - as always, in New Jersey and Ohio. This is something we dealers must charge as per Festool Agreement.

As regards any shipping surcharge for the MFT's, CT 48's, Sysports, that's up to we dealers to pass on or not to pass on any large item surcharge. For the record, I'm not charging shipping on those items.

Puleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze don't shoot me; I'm just the messenger. [scared] [eek] [sad]

States in which Festool currently has a sales tax nexus:

California
Connecticut
Florida
Indiana
Maryland
Maine
Michigan
Minnesota
North Carolina
New Jersey
Nevada
New York
Pennsylvania
South Carolina
Tennessee
Virginia
Washington

Let me clarify on what Bob just said. We (Festool) are required to collect sales tax in any state where we have a nexus (basically an employee based). Since the reconditioned tool orders are being drop shipped, we are required to collect this tax by the state. Bob's list is not complete due to some recent additions of employees in other states. Here is the complete list. Also, the oversized items are charged $25 per item for shipping and include: all versions of the MFT, all versions of the CMS, SysPort, CT 48, and Kapex. Realize that some of these oversized items are not currently available, but may be at some point in the future.

I suppose I should have included this in my original post. Sorry about that.

Is the sale going on until a certain date or just until all the tools are sold?

Tom, the recon sale is for a limited time, however we have not published a cut off date at this time. The last recon sale lasted for a month and most everything was sold out.

For the mft/3's. What condition are the tops going to be in?

I wanted to confirm before I answered. Here is what I was told.

"Most tops are in new condition, but some may be stained and have kerf marks.  No difference based on discount.  All tops are in usable condition."

Remember that the top can also be flipped into 4 different orientations: rotated 180 degrees or flipped over.

Shane flipped yes... but rotated 180deg ??? would it be easier to Just turn the whole table around?

It moves the kerf away from the guide rail by rotating the top and gives you a fresh piece of table top to cut a new, clean kerf. Turning the table would just make you face the opposite direction.  [blink]
