Festool Reconditioned Tool Sale

I just received my first reconditioned purchase in this years sale. I ordered a 20% tool and honestly I couldn't find anything on the tool itself that didn't look brand new. The abrasive packs were opened in the systainer but that was the extent of any signs of anything being less than new.

Anyhow, it's probably time to pull out the wallet and find some more NEEDS before everything is gone. [tongue]

Got home and noticed my domino 500 set came today.  Opened it up and it looks like it's brand new other than some very slight scratches on the aluminum plate, which is barely noticeable. I used it to make sure it functioned correctly and it works perfectly.  The bit appears to be brand new.  I was very pleased that the systainer looks brand new.  At 20% off, I'm very impressed, so glad I jumped on it.  Shipping was quick too.

Like wise. Its time to update my festool swag count on my profile.

Will Festool be adding anymore items to the list?

The list is fluid. If we receive 30 day returns, they will be added to inventory and reflected on the list. Likewise, as we sell out of certain items they will disappear.

Here's a real-time list of tools available. It will continue to update every time the page is loaded.

Peter,

I was just asking for others.  If I need to use one, I can drive 3+ hours to BuilderBob's to run a roundover on some glulams with the MFK 700.

Shane,

What shape should someone expect the batteries to be with the 30% off drills.  Would they be replaced with new ones before they are sent out or just verified to hold a normal charge?

Thanks

imagine how much it would cost to replace all those batteries!

buying old stock nicd/nimh is bad news since the dying batteries represent so much of the overall cost.

if festool wants to get rid of those tools they should offer them at a deeper discount.

i got a great deal on panasonic 12v drill and impact, so i thought...

I had someone ask this by PM earlier today and I should have proactively posted to the thread. Let me refer to the testimony of those who have bought and received their reconditioned tools as to the type of company you're dealing with here. We want your reconditioned tool purchase experience to be as good as your new tool purchase experience, less the option to return and the shorter warranty period.

Here's what I had to say about the battery condition...

All of the tools are checked out by the service department to make sure all of the components, are in like-new working condition. I can't make any guarantees about the age of the machines and non-LiIon batteries are not covered by warranty, but LiIon batteries are included in the one year warranty on recon tools. If you read the forum, you will see guys with C12 NiCad/NiMH batteries that are 7-10 years old and are still working fine. Lithium Ion technology is not very prone to degradation like NiCad and NiMH. If you're talking about the LiIon C12, it's only been available since last October. If you're talking about the NiCd version, it could be older, but they were made up until last October.

If you have more questions, let me know. In short, we're going to be "Festool-like" and give you a great tool and value for your money. No depleted batteries.

Based upon my experiences I wouldn't be very concerned about the batteries. I purchased 6 of the C12s for my electricians 5 years ago - all with the NiCad batteries. Two of these were used very hard daily for panel building and driving self tapping screws repeatedly as we'll as boring holes in metal enclosures. It took 3 years before I had to replace a battery - this being one that was recharged several times a day 5 days a week. One of the guys actually mechanically wore out the drill prior to the batteries giving up the ghost. Festool batteries have proven to be far superior to any others we have used.

Thanks for the testimonial, Peter. Not the only testimony about the quality and longevity of our batteries here on the forum, including the NiCds which most know are prone to recharge cycle issues over time.

I wrote a bit about our Lithium Ion batteries on the drill site. Basically, our battery cells are tested to be matched so that all cells charge and discharge at the same rates. This offers superior cell life.

The weekend in front of Shane  [oops] I told a customer that i loved the NiCads in my reconditioned C12 because they were not affected as much by cold weather.  I love my T-15 with the LI batteries, but I have two drills with the NiCads and have absolutely no complaints.  I can now use 1.3 or 2.4 with my drills and use those NiCads with my T-15 if needed.  Pretty cool - another statement to the Festool "System".

Dumb question time.......

Do the recon C12 NiCd drill sets come with LC45 charger or TRC3 charger?

Not a dumb question, Seth. They would come with the original equipment which is the LC45 charger.

For the drills that are just listed as "set" no classic or Tloc listed are they shipped without systainer? For instance the T12.

I'll see about getting those updated to reflect the systainer type. Sorry about that.

564247 Cordless drill T 12+3 Set = T-LOC
564216 Cordless drill T 12+3 (non-set) = T-LOC

564227 Cordless drill T 15+3 (non-set) = T-LOC

The rest appear to be marked with the systainer type. The T15 sets are marked as classic systainer. I don't see a T15 set available in T-LOC.
