Festool RO 90 Rubin abrasives

I'm looking for a replacement for Rubin 2 paper for my RO 90. I use a lot of D90 P80 & P120 also V93 P80 & P120 grits. Granat does not work for my needs. Appears that Festool has decided that we only need Rubin V93 in P150 and D90 In P150 & P180. Seems crazy for a ROTEX machine. I've been told this is the only grit Ruben available fo the RO 90 in the USA.
Hope this doesn't happen to the RO 150

Yes Rubin not Ruben (spellcheck). Have checked the Festoolusa.com website for Rubin 2 for the RO 90 also called and verified that only V93 in P150 and D90 In P150 & P180 will be sold in USA. Talked to local dealers and have been told that they can no longer get the Rubin 2 for the RO 90 other then P150 & P180. To me it just seems odd that they would discontinue the courser grits fo A ROTEX sander. Just doesn't make sense.
I use my RO 90 & RO 150 ROTEX for aggressive bare wood. I use my RAS 115 with Saphir for painted wood which has also been discontinued in USA.

Try eagle tools in LA. Talk to John or Gabe. They pretty much answer the phones. I would also call Anderson Plywood they might have back stock along with US Tool and Fastner.

Give them a call and ask about all the Rubin2 available for the RO-90. They typically have a lot more than what is shown in that clearance section.

I didn't look, are the coarser grit available in Granat for the RO90 ?. If so, welcome to the marketing and purchasing power of all the commercial users who Festool made happy by giving an ALL GRANAT platform for abrasives.... I'm kidding a bit, but seriously, Brilliant 2 got pushed out of the way for many sanders, to be replaced by Granat as the substitute. Cristal went the same way. What you're probably not seeing is how many purchases of Granat paper for a RO90 per month, versus Rubin 2, so, Festool runs the numbers, and voila, Granat becomes yet another primary Abrasive offering for a given Sander here in the US market.
To put it another way, I regularly heard from my local Festool dealer about big purchasers/accounts totally switching their entire abrasive selection in all their kits/systainers for the job sites to Granat once it had grab a foothold and users had experience with it. The shop supply buyers looked at the ease of stocking just one type of abrasive versus several types, and said, yep, that's the way we do it going forward.
Granat works with raw wood, finished wood, finishes, stain removal, finish removal, light sanding, coarse sanding. Hard to argue with them. I think only Saphir is a stand alone stocking abrasive for many shops/commercial users since it's a very different animal compared to Granat.

Call or contact Chip at Tool Nirvana, he may have the Rubin 2 in the grits that you want.

It was the commercial guys who caused the demise of different papers. Festool pushed it on the dealers as "the one" and they happily climbed on board because it meant less paper to inventory. Festool paper ain't cheap especially if it just sits on the shelf month after month.

Well, did you ever count how many sandpaper SKU's Festool has / had? It's insane. You can go years between selling a second pack of the more rare ones.

I have a bunch of Granat and it works fine for interior hardwood and softwood that is dry, but I work with a lot of outdoor new and reclaimed Cedar, Cypress and Teak wood that has a higher moisture content and Granat just loads up and does not last very long but Rubin works great. I have called 42 dealers today and not a single one including tool Nirvana, has Rubin in D90 P120 50X available I have stocked up on the other grits I use but cannot find D90 P120. Hopefully they do not discontinue this paper for the RO 150. Upsetting that they would not make this available to the USA market but everywhere else it's justified to still have it. Can understand dealers not stocking it but to not even let it be available to be ordered is ridiculous.

You can always import it from Europe.

This is confusing since Granat is made to not load up, and Rubin 2, and Rubin 1 for that matter, can load up since they're not a coated abrasive like Granat. Granat was made to handle finish removal, which is the easiest way to generally load up sandpaper/abrasives that aren't treated for this.
As a ONE MORE place to call- Try Berlands House of Tools here in the Chicagoland Area. They move Festools, stock pretty well for it, but may not sell out of Rubin Abrasive for the reasons we listed above, it's a set of 3 stores that really cater to Contractors, so they might have Rubin laying around, gathering dust. I bought a Sanding Pad for my RS2e sander recently from them, last one they had in stock, no one else had one left as they're NLA now.
There are 3 stores /locations , so your chances are multiplied.
1 word of warning, you can't buy over the phone or on-line with them, but maybe we can work out getting some shipped to you.

Only other suggestion I have for you is Klingspor Abrasives, checking them On-line to see if they offer their own product in the RO90 size and grit you want. They have discs for other Festools, so it's worth a look if you haven't done this yet. YEP, just looked- lots of choices for the RO90- Coated/Stearated, SUPER Coated/Green Disc, etc
