I just bought a RO150 and a RO90.  Should I ever need any other type of sander like i.e.. SL130?

Of course you need another type of sander.  [tongue] Whether that's the LS130 or an other one depends on what you want to do. At least Festool's got choice enough.

I started out with a RO150, about 6 years ago. Now I've got 11 Festool sanders. They seem to keep on breeding like rabbits. Funny though, the LS130 isn't one of them. It's a very specialised sander, and I haven't found a use for it yet. Being linear and all, it's supposed to be great with profiles, but I can't comment on that.

Rudy,

Congrats on the new sanders. The combination of the RO 150 and RO 90 will cover a lot of sanding tasks, and do them very well.

Like Alex said, whether you might benefit from other sanders is entirely based on what you plan to sand. But, I think  you'll find those two sanders do most, if not all, of what you want.

+1 on what Alex said, and ,who has me beat by 1 sander since I only own 10 of them. Don't own any of the 5"/125mm models, and only 1 ETS 150.
Your usage will dictate what you find you need in the future. The LS130 is a nice model, but unless you are doing lots of handrails, mouldings or edge treatments, it may not be for you.
A smaller sander to compliment what you already own would be the RTS or DTS 400 models.  Very nice for corners and tight, right angle spaces that you found you didn't want to use the Delta pad of your RO90 for.
Although the RTS 400 can share abrasives with the LS130, I prefer the DTS 400 over it for many tasks.

Be sure to check out the RTS 400.  I find myself using it more than anything.  For smaller projects it can't be beat.  One handed and light.

I have had all the Festool sanders at one point except the RO 90, maybe soon.

Anyhow I just finished sanding something with my Ro and I simply had to go get my ETS 150/3.

To my eye and my fingers the 150/3 stroke does make a difference verse the 150/5 stroke on the RO 150. FOPr me the RO 150 and ETS 150/3(not5) is a great combinations. I always seem to use the 150/3 at the end of the sanding. I just get a better finish with it before critical finishing.

For years the RO 150 was my favorite becasue for what I could "do" with it. Just today I realized the ETS 150/3 is  my favorite to actually "use". I guess I am saying if you want to the most flawless finish with the most control consider an ETS 150/3.

I must admit I have two DTS/DS 400 sanders. And the DX93 and the RTS400 are on the list to go, because they are redundant by now. Haven't used the DX since I got the RO90, and I was using the RTS so little I decided to get the RS pad to put on my DS when I need it.

Completely agree, a DTS is a nice addition to the RO150 and RO90 Rudy already has. With those three you can do almost any sanding task at hand. The LS130 is a much more limited sander, great for profiles but because it only has linear movement, it lacks the punch for other jobs.

Rudy,

Good start, next is the ETS 150/3 then the LS130 and you'll be happier [big grin]

Yup. What he said.  Though, the LS130 is a specialist.  But the ETS150/3 will compliment the RO150 perfectly.

Thanks for all the input.  I have ordered the RTS400EQ.  Sounds like that will compliment the other 2 RO models I have.  This is a great site for those questions that need to be addressed with an unbiased opinion.
