I saw the youtube video for this the other day and man... it looks soooo awesome. I would love this if I did a lot of timber framing but I don't. I did have flashbacks to using a friend's 16" beam saw once and I'll be honest- this TOTALLY didn't inspire the fear in me that the massive skilsaw did. What a beaut.

I had to cut some window openings in a cedar log cabin with a chain saw. This beast would have made that job a lot easier. Probably also easier to follow the score line.

SSU 200

Hi
For most cuts with the Swordsaw keep the sword pitched forward with the cam lever - reduces pressure on the chain. For birdsmouths then the sword is kept 90 degrees to the timber being cut.

Thanks for the video. I didn't even realize it worked off of a guide rail. How easy would that have been. Punch a starter hole thru the logs, fasten the track to the wall and cut a straight and perpendicular window opening. [big grin]

One of the openings was for a kitchen window. Standing on the kitchen counter top, without hitting my head on the ceiling while trying to follow a vertical scribe line and keeping the chain saw perpendicular to the wall.  [crying]

Thanks for the info...are you able to plunge cut with this saw?

Hi
A common question and the answer is no.
You may be intrested in the cool angle guide for the guide rail

The fences make a great addition to the SSU for cutting down tennon cheeks.
