Any idea if this will get restocked someday, or is it sort of like a one-time offering?

My understanding limited time availability in the US and then that would be it. But who knows for certain.

Sears Trostel in Ft Collins, CO, has one - I don't know if they ship.

This is a case of sitting on the fence hoping they would change course, but losing out for now.

I saw one at Timber Woodworking Machinery in Mesa, AZ Saturday

I don't know where you are at, but Hartville Hardware in Ohio has one at their Hartville store according to their website.  However, their on-line site says they are out, so only one available is pickup only .  Maybe the Hartville store one is set up for display?

[member=72457]Yardbird[/member]  Last Monday the store had two - one was the display and the other was stock.  I put in a phone order and picked it up last Tuesday.  So if one is still left, it's probably the display.  Additionally, the Hartville Tool online warehouse was already out of stock.  They told me they had the last one on reserve for someone.

Late to the STM 1800 game. Looking for any Festool dealer that has a STM 1800 in stock, New, Used or Demo unit. Will pay shipping to Southern Calif.

Couple of sawhorses and 2x4s is a fine substitute. A better value as well.

There is absolutely no comparison other than they both can be used to cut wood and function as a table.

The sawhorse set-up is my approach when I need it. The STM 1800, however, trumps sawhorses in several ways, but the most important of which to me would be that you can move it around with whatever that is on top of it. For example, I can move a stack of parts between machines as they're worked on.

I don't handle sheet goods in general, or this would have already found its way to my shop.

Not trying to be a wise guy, but isn't cutting wood and functioning as a table 90% of what it's designed to do? I can't see why one would spend $1000 to get this capability. What else does it do that makes it so worthwhile? I haven't researched this table in depth and would seriously like to know. Obviously I'm missing something.

The caster system, the folding/collapsibility, and the "tilt-to-load" are the features I see touted the most.

Festool Live if you want to hear Sedge go wild about it (admittedly, I haven't watched it, but I'm guessing Sedge is Sedge in most of his videos):

Cutting is probably a small percentage of it's usefulness.

I could almost see myself having mine holding material most the time and cutting on something else. As mentioned, having a wheeled platform to move material around is great.

The ability to easily flip material from on edge, to on top of the table is a huge feature.

The fact it folks up so small.  I don't even know where mine is right now.

I could definitely see myself with 2 of them.  One to wheel out and have material loaded on to, wheel back into workspace, shove in corner, but be able to move stuff around as needed.  then the second to slide material onto for cutting.

I would say it's more of a material management tool than cutting, it just happens cutting is sorta the last part of the whole deal.
