I know I'm a little slow on the uptake sometimes.  I just saw that Festool has a table saw.  Any word on it's availability in the US?  Is it working out as a viable stationary table saw replacement or more of a job site table saw option?  What's it's capacity like?

Hi Darita, alas you are on well-trodden ground!

It's unavailable in North America because of regulatory and other issues. If you search for something like "NAINA CMS module" or "everyone else can buy the CMS modules but why not me" or "life is so unfair because I can't put my TS55 in a CMS" you should hit plenty of results!

Festool makes 4 table saw variants, a CMS module for the TS 55, another for the TS 75, as well as two Precisio saws, CS 50 and CS 70, none of which are available in North America. I auditioned a CMS TS 75 module and found it clunky for my needs. If you import something, I'd steer you towards the Precisio saws.

My understanding is that Festool is in the early stages of developing a solution for North America, but it could be years before we see anything hit the market, if at all.

Another option are the Mafell Erika saws (70 or 85), which ARE available in North America, and are widely considered nicer than the Precisio saws, but be prepared to spend ~$2,500+.

Hope this helps!

Someone just posted a CS70 for sale in the Classifieds section, and they are in North America.  Selling on behalf of an estate.  Check it out if you have an interest.

Cheers,

Frank

Take note of what Tom said.  At JLC Festool conducted a study group with the focus, as far as I remember, being placed on contractor style mobile table saws.  Who knows if it means they'll be pushing to import their current solutions (CMS modules, etc) or developing an all new saw for the states.

It turns out the solution will be to ship your wood, along with a cutlist, to Festool. This is all the UL will allow........

Naaa...

I read somewhere (maybe it was this post? :-) that they're just gonna re-market a version of the SawStop, but painted dark blue and green. It will feature a "Mechanized Emergency Stop System" which Festool will call the MESSeX. It will have a SysPort option under the table extension.

It must be true, because I found it on the internet?!

[wink][thumbs up] [popcorn]

Meanwhile Virutex is pushing on ahead.  For some reason they don't seem to have a problem with UL.

I have seen a similar one from Bosch though it is not sold in the US. Probably not good at either function. Most multi-use tools are not.
