for years, when i was a mason contractor, i had a truck with a utility body.  the side boxes had trays where all my small ands large hand tools were visible.  At the end of the day, as i was ready to leave the job, i had only to open the tool box doors and walk around the truck.  i would know immediately whether any tool was missing and nobody left the job until any missing tools were back in there trays. I seem to have wandered away from those habits.

For me it does what it was designed to do. Adjust all my Festool stuff. Festool has done well to keep all the fasteners in all their products standardized and the Toolie seems to fit everything they make.  Rather than reach for a bunch of different screwdrivers, I can just grab it. I won't use it to rebuild by bicycle but for what it was intended to be used for, you can't beat it

I have two and love the concept, however the straight blade broke on my first one after only a few uses.

I'd like to know where you guys are even finding toolies now.

They are naina.  Tool nut had some for sale a while ago but had a limited supply.  I waited too long and they were sold out.

The dealer in my town has 4 if I remember correctly. Including the one I returned. I picked up a stubby Milwaukee ratcheting hand screw driver for $12.99 yesterday and put the bits that my Festools require in it. 1/3rd of the price and it works far better.

Wow you must of been torquing the snot of it. I find with festools I don't have to torque the screws etc that tight. Even when changing the blades in my TS

I agree with the premise, but in practice, the Toolie doesn't have the elements I use most commonly, aside from the T-15 Torx driver.  It sits in the tool chest drawer, largely unused.  I certainly don't see Pozi-Drive screwdriver providing any tangible value in my shop.  The 2.5, 5 and 6mm hex drives have no useful purpose, and it lacks the 3mm hex drive that I use frequently.

FYI, you can use the T15 for Hex 3mm.

My Systainer (Centrotek) with all the bits had no allens as I recall.

But the T15 with the tourqe set to ~5 allows teh Mrs to put together Ikea in a hurry and we final-tighten with the Z shaped tool from Ikea.

That's good to know for emergencies, but generally speaking, I prefer to use the correct driver for the fastener.  [smile]

Nope, not at all. It had to be an imperfection in the bit itself. It snapped with very little torque. I am a factory trained motorcycle technician and have been using all types of hand tools from all over the world professionally now for 29 years. I just got a bad one, and I will say that I have had a bad tool over the years from every manufacturer out there, it happens now and then. It's all about how they deal with it that proves their measure as a company to me.  ;)

Toolie came in my TS55 EQ kit, stays there, never gave much thought to it otherwise and doubt I'd go out of my way to especially buy one.

Don't expect to rebuild engines with it either :)

Someone pointed out to me that it was likely meant to work on all your Festool stuff. For that purpose it makes sense but not worth the $35. Free in your kit is nice though.

I like Bondhus foldups.  Just putting that out there. [big grin]

Both Bondhus and Eklind make good stuff, both have kept manufacturing here in the USA.

I too hate the folding setup too like many though, and if you do any volume of work in hex heys, you owe it to yourself to invest in a set of sliding T-handles. They are magical.

Unfortunately no one makes them in the US, but there's a few European manufacturers that do. Beta makes the nicest set in my opinion, but I've seen stuff from PB Swiss, and Facom/USAG as well. They're all variations on the same concept.

Beta and USAG/Facom are made in Italy, PB in Switzerland.

The idea of the Toolie is nice, but I personally think it's almost useless because the tips don't lock but just flop back and forth freely. Another issue I've had with mine was that the weird ring around the hex-head broke off when i tried to open a bolt and now it's too loose to use for anything as the actual metal part of the hex-tip is smaller than the hex-hole so it's useless.

Those look great for a shop. But not practice for on site or those with small
Shops, where space is a premium

Well I can tell ya all this. This after noon I had to take my 2200 out of the CMS because it wouldn't crank up and down, So I got it loose then I though hay why not do a little PM, reached over got my toolie, took the black cap that screws on right below the collet, cleaned it out put it back no worries. Tool was right there didn't have to take more then a step to get it and return it and back put tie 2200 back in the module and the module in the CMS and back to work, that easy.

Beta Tools are available from Pegasus Auto Racing, but the prices will give you a heart attack!!!  [scared]

Heh, they're not cheap, averages around $21/wrench.

The USAG/Facom ones are available for about $15/wrench, but the Betas are forged, the Facom/USAG and PBs are likely just extruded and broached.

I swear it seems like the price went up after they shifted from Italy to mostly Taiwan (or China?).
May as well just kit out with PBSwiss!  [big grin]
