Bought this tool January last year. Only used it in summer to cut 10 sheets of 22mm OSB sheets for a raft Foundation.
I know it has a 3 year guarantee but as I dont use much I expect my tools to work.
This has cost me money as Ive wasted a day and have to wait for festool to send a demo and collect my faulty TS55. So I have to wait in till 10am. I wish I bought the mafell as it people say it has more power.

Then used again today to trim door casing to the right width. Was ok but didn't seem to have much power. My £30 cheap saw cuts faster.
Then on the 2nd frame it stopped cutting and made a groaning noise, I lifted of the track and it would not power just made a noise. After a couple of mins it worked but made a lot of noise and did not have the power to cut again as it would cut out.

Do I have any UK rights to get my money back or is there a European law.
As I believe its not fit for purpose.

Standard blade that come with it.
Thats what the guy asked where I bought it from.
Got a similar blade in my cheep saw and that goes though fine.

The TS55 has felt under powered since I got it.

Thats why i sold mine on Ebay.

John...

That doesn't sound normal, are you sure the variable speed is set to max and the blade isn't worn?
You can't get your money back, but it's your right to have a properly functioning saw.

set on 6 and blade used only a couple of days out the whole year.

Just think its not powerful enough and burnt itself out.

Neth 27 if you sold your on ebay what do you use now?
Whats the difference like?

I got the Mafell, It has more power [big grin] There are a good few things why i prefer it over the Festool.

I'm not a lawyer..

a) clearly you have your contractual rights
b) if you could demonstrate the problem existed from the beginning you're covered (IIRC by the sale of goods act)  (and I beleive european legislation) the frequent belief of sellers that they are only obliged to provide 1 years warranty is not correct - 2 I believe is now the minimum for electrical (and possibly other) goods.

having said that, whilst not the heaviest user - I've used my TS55 very much harder without difficulty or any apparent lack of power, and the only time I had trouble Festool and their dealer network were excellent...

If you are not happy with the dealer I'd suggest you contact Festool UK directly

Peshi,

If you were using the blade that came with the saw to do a rip cut or thick dense material it is likely to bog down as that blade is designed for sheet goods and  cross cuts.

The saw has self protection electronics that shut it down if it is going to over heat.  Which from your description sounds like what happened.  The growning sound is the electronics attempting to adjust / control the speed.

Also did it perform ok on the osb?  Some of the man made materials can be real hard on blades.

Not saying the saw might not have a problem, but those are some potential factors.

i have cut full capasity rips on ash with my ts55. i used the normal blade and it was ok but when i put in my rip blade. boy did it cut . from now on im leaving the rip blade in there and saving the normal blade for better materials.

the blade is either blunt , or dirty
too many teeth or
the saw has a problem.
or maybe you are pushing too hard. let the saw do the work

Some OSB is really abrasive and can dull a blade quick. Were you stacking the OSB and cutting it? As Seth and others said, it has a high tooth count and is not designed for thick ripping. That blade is ideal on 3/4" material. I have at least 4 different blades for my TS55 and use them all for various purposes. Have yet to need to sharpen a blade. I also have a cheapo circular saw that gets used to cut wood like OSB and cheap plywood as it can have most any type material in it as filler. I have found stuff that looked like tennis balls or basket balls - even had printing on it.

Well to be fair to Festool they did get a demo saw to me before 10 next day, but they didn't collect the old one for repair. I t was the new version. Hopefully the let me keep it. Unless festool want to change it for a Mafell.

The demo ripped through the length of 7 door frames today, when you push it it does cut out but it worked agin when slowing down.
I still think its under powered. The old one only managed 1.

When they repair the old one when they collect it, or let me keep the demo one look like I will have to buy some new blades even though I don't use the machine much.

Whats the best blades and best buys?

I think you'd find the 28 tooth universal blade to be a good choice for the kind of task like the door frames.  It makes a big difference over the fine 48 tooth blade that comes on the saw.

definetly the 24 tooth.
its a great blade. i use mine most of the time now

Looks like I'll buy a new blade.
Which 24 - 28 tooth blade should I buy in UK
Festool or other brand?

Yeah for solid wood a 24 tooth blade is the standard, i even have a 12 tooth for when it struggles.
If you are looking for cheap blades then this site has some unbeatable prices, i ordered one of each type there for when the "real ones" are being sharpened. i don't use my TS enough to have 2 sets of each festool blades. €8-9 for a T24 blade, thats less than the cost of sharpening it!
I even ordered a 260mm blade for the kapex there for less than €20 and it makes better cuts than my 6yo sharpened kapex blade  [huh] but well see in 6 years if that is still the case...
