Stumbled onto a Festool YT video illustrating the new CXS 12 and TXS 12. Appears the TXS 12 is only available in Europe? If so, will the TXS 12 be made available in the USA? When?

The TXS 12 has a full-size handle on it, unlike the CXS 12 which can only fit 3 fingers in the grip. Appears to be a better ergonomic design in that regard. The TSX 12 is also nearly an inch shorter in depth (front-to-back), at 13.3 cm vs. 15.6 cm for the CXS. The TSX 12 is taller though, at 22.2 cm vs. 17.7 cm for the CXS. Most of the time, drill/driver depth is a bigger problem than height. Both TSX 12 & CSX 12 are listed as same weight (0.7 Kg) on Festool UK site, although intuitively I'd think the TSX might be a touch lighter.

It hasn't been confirmed, but I would call it heavily implied that they'd bring it to the us in '24 from watching their YouTube

Any new news on this? I would love to grab the TXS 12 here in the states.

The TXS12 quietly disappeared from the Festool Au site a long time ago, not sure why. CXS is still available, as is the TXS18.

It has been a while and nothing. I was in Spain last week and picked one up.
Everything is the same except the charger is 220-240
Man I'd love to nab one. I have the CXS and while I like it, I just have a preference for a 12v T style drill. I had the Metabo Powermaxx 12v line and loved them. I don't suppose you'd be heading to Spain again anytime soon and would be down to import another?

Does anyone know a reliable way of importing Festool items to the US?
Probably the "most reliable" way would be having a friend in Europe buy one and ship it to you. But then you might get hit with import tariffs. For example, one of the woodworking shops I know in Tokyo has ceased all shipments to the USA because of the psychotic situation with tariffs - especially on mailed goods.

That said, this could be a good reason to make a trip to Europe. Then, you can see and feel the tool before you buy. Then toss it on the plane and bring it back with you!

You know, I just switched my Amazon app to the UK and I can order through there. It's a long Lead time but the prices are good.

Not all Festool items are available to import but a lot are. Same with Bosch.

So, for whoever is interested, Amazon will import with an extended Lead Time.

Make sure to check if the charger accepts 110V. You would have to replace the plug too.

The problem is that you then pay European VAT. The easiest way to avoid that is if a business immediately ships it out of the EU without charging the VAT.

UK is not EU, but I guess similar problem.

This is why the travel to EU is a better proposition. You get VAT refunded at the airport.

BBB did away with the $800 limit, but iirc, not until Jan 1, so that is why I took the oppurtunity when it presented itself. Took me about 45 min of work/walking in Cadiz to get my VAT refund, but as it is a HUGE busy port, the office was right in the port building, albiet out of the way.

I agree 100% that making the trip and bringing something back is the best way to go about this.

Realistically, I'm not going to make the trip for a simple 12v drill that's a luxury and not a necessity.

Including VAT, shipping, and tax, I'm looking at $485 but a 2-6 month lead time.

The charger won't work but I have chargers.

We have been over this before in last week or the week before. But this might differ per country... the Dutch tax service says; Upon exit you can get a form signed. Then you can send that to the original seller and he can refund you the VAT, but that's between you and him.

Why so long? Maybe get 'tool only' then? That should also save on the weight.

Not sure about the long lead time. It could be that it's sent on a ship rather than a plane? But, your suggestion on tool only is a solid one. I'll try that and report back on my findings.
