Festool USA 2015 Catalog

Untidy Shop, this is not quite true. You can also download the German catalog in PDF format from Festool.de:

https://www.festool.de/Service/Downloads/Pages/Uebersicht-Download.aspx

That catalog is indeed a little more difficult to navigate than the US version (it was clearly designed with a printed version in mind, likely in a binder with separators) but it also has nice (and different) photography. For me, it was interesting to browse it to see what tools we are "deprived of" in North America.

One should keep in mind while looking at prices in the German catalog (it came as a surprise when I discovered it) that Festool apparently does not fix prices in Germany. I did my postdoc in Germany years ago and I speak some German. All prices in the catalog are MSRP (verbally translated from German, non-binding price recommendation). I clicked on several online retailers. It appears that although dealers in Germany do not dump prices to a significant extent, with some persistence one can find 10% to 20% discounts off MSRP. I did not see much value in researching further, possible one can find even deeper discounts.

This makes me wonder in which countries Festool follows the fixed price policy and in which does not. Not that it makes a lot of difference for any practical purpose, just pure curiosity about how different the terms and conditions are in different countries.

In Spain, there is a fixed prices policy, I think, but some vendors apply 5% discounts on large purchases or give away any Festool product . Currently, a popular seller in Spain gives a TSX by purchasing a Kapex, a 1400 rail additional by purchasing TS 55 or a domino assortment by purchasing a Domino 500.

Thank you AIPDX. I had a look at the German Catalogue and I agree with your comments.

My PDF reference was to the UK and Australian Catalogues both of which are based on EFLIP, which is very good for online browsing. However, I have not as yet found a way to save these EFLIP catalogues that works on an IPad.

Re Fixed pricing, as per other posts, we have just lost dealer discounting in Australia. Interesting it occurs in Festool's country of manufacture.

Obviously, A case of don't do what I do, but do what I say! When it comes to price fixing.

Just a note on Oregon of manufacture, none of my PDX was made in Germany, drill in Cheq rep, batteries Polland, not that it makes any difference, but both these countries are much cheaper to manufacture in than Germany.

Here is a link to the 2015 USA Catalog that has bookmarks for major sections and the table has links to the referenced sections. it can work on mobile tablets but phones maybe too small.
