I took on a small job to basically cover my cost of the machine. I was skeptical about it and how useful.it is or can be. Wiah i would have made this one of my first purchases. Worth every penny.
I was able to put 1 full sheet of 3/4 baltic birch on it and it held.  Its best w 2 heads but in a pinch it works. Makes every task light duty. I cant tell you how happy i am with this purchase. Its a heavy system to.lug around and it come in systainer 1. This only down side. I used this to break down sheet goods with my track saw.  I love this and its my go to. If youre on the fence dont be just buy it..

Very true. I put off buying it. But when I did the 2 heads with the kit, its a game changer to me. Makes dominoing, routing, sanding a breeze.

It's one of those tools that, while expensive, was worth every penny to me even without 2 heads. It holds so many things for sanding or cutting Domino slots or routing that would be more complicated to clamp down if I didn't have it.

Like others I put off this purchase but ordered one in the last year.  Have used it on every project since for some task or another.  Should have gotten it sooner.....

The unsung hero of the Festool product line!

Amen...we all hear about the DF 500/DF 700, the various sanders and the MFT but the world is kind of oblivious to the merits of the VAC SYS.

I bought this on a whim late last year, but final used it for the first time today.  Wow!  I’m blown away at how easy it makes anything and everything.  Rotating the work while sanding is so nice.  No more jockeying around to hit every spot.  I had a 5x5 3/4 bb sheet on it, and it was flawless.  I foresee this getting lots of use.  I might even snag the se2 set.

By "full sheet" of 3/4" Baltic birch, are we talking the 5x5' variety or 4x8'? Commendable if the latter.

Y'know I thought that was going to be more expensive coming from them. Actually looks kinda handy although for me I don't see an immediate use.

Can any of us truthfully?

Peter

The Woodpeckers offering and the Vac Clamp have totally different abilities.  There may be some overlaps, but beyond those the functionality is drastically different.  With functionality also comes price of course.

I do not own a Festool Vac Clamp system.  I have a simpler / less expensive / not as functional vacuum clamping system.

I would say it would handle a 4x8 sheet of 3/4 bb, as long as the base is securely fastened to a bench.  I used the suction of the unit to secure itself to my table saw.  I was also hammering in threaded inserts as well.  Very impressed how well it holds.

Dammit...it's these types of quotes that make me spend money...

I know the feeling.  I've been keeping my eye on the Recon site for the VAC SYS.  They previously went for $742.50 (looks like it was last offered on February 3).  Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately for me / my wallet), there haven't been any items offered on festoolrecon.com in the last month.

The standard D215 vacuum cup is capable of holding 121# in a vertical orientation. That’s pretty impressive.

You are all enablers.  Thanks to you'll, I just purchased the set and accessory set today.

Super excited

It's an awesome tool. The key to getting the most out of it is setting it up somewhere you don't have to fiddle with it to use it.
