Any one use the Festool vacs for regular house cleaning? The dealer here by me says wife's are buying these to use as a household vacuum cleaner...

All the time.  Makes it bearable.  Also got the turbo suction brush, so I no longer even need to use my old household vac on the carpets

Regular house vacs are more powerful, but Festool vacs work also. I use mine (mini & CT26 ) all the time. But a very small Philips Barcelona vac I have has more power than either of them. The Festool filters are much better though.

36 mm hose is a must with Festool vacs for cleaning. You just lose too much suction with the 27 mm hose and it clogs all the time.

I would also advice to get a cleaning set with the metal tubes, the plastic ones are very bendy.

My wife would steal my midi out of my truck all the time because she loves cleaning the house with it. I bought her a ct36 to clean the house with.  With the recent sale I bought the cleaning kit with with the bigger hose and she loves it.  Plus when I work at home I don't have to pull my vac out of the truck.

We got a mini for that purpose during the discount, and it can pull double duty in the shop when needed.

My wife loves using my CT22 for house. It works better than any other vacuum.

I used a shop vac for house cleaning a long time ago but gave that up quickly.  Part of the issue was noise which wouldn't be an issue with Festool.  But it lacks a beater brush you need for carpet.  I have a little $50 Hoover vac with a HEPA filter that seems like a better idea than any shop vac.  But if the shop vac is the only vac you have, or the only reasonably quiet vac you have, I suppose it could work - especially if you don't have carpet.

Festool does have a powered brush, separately available and very expensive at $140.

I don't see why you HAVE to have a beater brush for carpet, it can also be done just fine without.

The Festool brush is also available as a generic part from Nilfisk for 1/3rd the price, and other brands fit too.

Thanks for the part number [member=5277]Alex[/member]
If you know the Nilfisk that would be great too.

The Haus-Boss is not impressed with the CT26 as a house vac, so they may not be universally on board... but I do not mind using it.

I tried connecting an AC36 to a hoover acting as a power brush. It didn't work very well. The Fesool just didn't move enough air. The best upright, for me, is the Hoover WindTunnel Self-Propelled Bagged Upright Vacuum. Being self propelled it's not good for small, tight spaces. But if you are doing larger rooms, hallways or whole carpet cleaning where the house/apartment is empty, it is great. The dirt detector really helps you get all the dirt out of the carpet.

My wife used a Fein II for years with the powered brush head that Fein offers.  We still use it for edge, under and overhead cleaning, but her Roomba 980 takes care of the tile and hardwood floors now.
