Here's the next van I've started, I've designed a folding glass rack. We fit glass splash backs in the kitchens we fit and it's always difficult to transport the glass without scratching it so I came up with the rack idea that folds away

Looks good, like your track and level storage. I would suggest a front lip on the plywood rack so sheets cannot slide off the bottom of the rack.

Malcolm that is a great design I could of taken some of your ideas when doing my van I might still borrow a few of your ideas thanks for the post and the pics

Cheers robert

Love the idea of the levels and tracks which slide just above the systainers.
Normally that's lost space.
Very inspiring!

I forgot to mention.
Also love the glass rack, very innovative!
I also often have some plates of double glazing in my van and just put a Bessey EZS push clamp between the opposite rack and the glass. Not a nice solution because I always find the glass panes very fragile.
And normally the factory does not even put cardboard around the edges.
I have had it so many times that the edges of the glass get damaged just by transporting it.

Very nice Malcolm. Mine is laid out very similar to yours although as a general builder I usually have a site saw and the Kapex ug in the middle. I put a torsion box in the shelves to the right which hold levels and painter poles. Kitchen jigs, rails and parallel guides ride over the top of the cab

I think I have a slight case of OCD! Everything has a box and a label. I keep my sites in the same order and encourage the subbies to be the same. They get a rubbish trug and a dustpan and brush although with the price of scrap copper the plumber and electricians seem a lot tidier these days.  [big grin]

What can I say?? I'm thrilled you guys like my idea!! I thought it was a good place for guides and levels to go.
Thank you all for the praise  :-D

I think nearly everyone here has a level of OCD  [embarassed]

Love the idea of the track storage.  How easy is it to guide a long track into those slots ?  I would imagine there is a bit of wiggling & manovering to aim the second slot ?  Really clever though  [big grin]

What part of the country you from ?  Remember to put your country into JMB's poll.

great idea with the rack how do the stops lock down?

Nice work, both of you.  I really like how you snuck the rails in there.

The stops are 3 pieces of 18mm ply, 2 are glued together with I very slight angle cut on the face that meets the third piece then a wee bolt goes through them all so when I tighten the knob it grips the rail, simple as that

It's ok once your past the second slot like you said it slides in easy, I was going to fit runners in between but it was too tight so I didn't bother, I'm from North Ayrshire  :)
