Festool Watch

On the "Dutch EBay" site Marktplaats there is somebody who offers 3 different Festo(ol) watches.
Especially the last one with the saw blade is very nice.
Look at Marktplaats

The saw blade watch is cool but it must be a few years old as it is a "Festo" & not "Festool".

It must be at least 10 years old as Festo changed its name to Festool in the year 2000. However, it looks like they're sold by a collector so they're probably as new.

My brandy new clamping elements are marked 'Festo'  [scratch chin]

Well, then they've been lying on a shelf for 10 years. They're probably unused and exactly the same as modern clamps with Festool on it. You should have as much value.

Not necessarily - the clamping elements have 'Festo' moulded into the clamp heads, the clamp body, and the stops. This lettering is not on an interchangable plate (as is sometimes done so names can be changed, like the 'Festool/Tanos lettering on the systainers).

When Festo power tools changed their name to Festool, it would not have been possible to change this lettering without completely retooling these 3 mouldings. This would be very expensive so obviously wasn't done.

The clamps could have been made last week, and would still have 'Festo' on them. I doubt anyone has any of these clamps with 'Festool' on them, do they?

I really don't care one way or the other, I love the things!

I was just passing along an observation

What clamping elements are we talking about exactly? Maybe they did update the design. I sincerely doubt they would still shell out Festo stuff 10 years after the name change.

Probably the same Clamping Elements as my own Clamping Elements:

There's a date mark on the underside of the piece that has Festo on it...

...and it can be seen that this Festo-marked item was manufactured in May 2007:

Frankly, if I was given a choice between a clamping element that said "Festo", or one that said "Festool" but was being sold at a higher price to pay for remanufacturing the mould, I'd go for the Festo one every time!
